Meet Danielle Portis | Licensed Professional Counselor & Life Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Portis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danielle, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
With Rose Gold Crowns, I went through a really dark time in my life where I had to tap into my spirit and figure out how to not only get out of that space, but also to never get back there again. In this transition was a lot of prayer and journaling. I recognized that my support came from people that I would have never expected, and I wanted more of that. I wanted it for me and I wanted it for other women too. I didn’t know of anywhere to get this so I created it. It started with meet ups and products and services have been developed over time. My vision keeps expanding as I evolve but the mission is the same; to support and connect women on their healing journey.

What should our readers know about your business?
Rose Gold Crowns is an agency that provides crown maintenance by way of coaching, experiences and crown-polishing products. What sets me apart is that I took my own life experiences, healed from them, then pursued education, certifications and committed to never stop evolving in order to help other women do the same. I live by the scripture Genesis 50:20, You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good, for what is now being done, the saving of many lives. I don’t believe anything that I’ve ever been through was on accident, even currently. When I experience challenges, I allow myself to feel my feelings, take my time to get over them and then ask God, now what you on with me? What was that for? Who was that for? It never takes long for me to get directions and following those directions is the hardest part of all. What helps me get over the hard parts is not being too prideful to ask for help. I can’t think of a single thing worth mentioning that I did by myself. I get most excited for the annual Queensgiving Dinner that we have, getting to see women with different lifestyles and personalities come to eat, laugh, have a ball and look so good doing it. I see myself and my brand as synonymous, so what I want the world to know about us that our crown is rose gold because it takes the good, the bad and the ugly and still takes its rightful place on the top of our head; our experiences don’t make us any less worthy. Mixing copper, silver and gold, no two rose gold items have the exact same chemical makeup, and the same goes for humans. We have different hues, because we have different stories; own yours.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love lowkey vibes like Hendrixx Ultra Lounge. We’d go to the High Museum of Art, Trap Museum and the Escape Room is a must. I’d take them to the Coca-Cola Museum, shopping at Lenox , Atlanta Zoo, Krog Street Tunnel, and the National Center for Civil and Human Rights. If my friend has never been to Atlanta, we will also be going to 1-3 strip clubs. I’m from Chicago so we’d definitely eat at Harolds Chicken & Ice Bar, stops at Da Menu in Douglasville, Slutty Vegan and Twisted Soul. Sunday, we’d go to church at All Nations Atlanta for balance.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Crystal Winfield-Edwards.
I got the opportunity to be her intern 2016-2017 and it was an experience that I could never forget. I’m sure she has more but it felt like she poured every resource, connection, training and tips that she had to offer in my time with her. Not only professionally, she highlighted personal work that I needed to work through in order to be able to provide quality care for other people. As a true observer, during any given work day, I was blessed to witness her operate as the best social worker I’ve ever seen in my life as well as balance being a wife, mother, sister and church leader. She appeared to navigate her roles with ease and smile all day long. She is one of the reasons why I can confidently never settle and carve my own lane if necessary.
