We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Louis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danielle, what do you want your legacy to be?
I would like to be remembered as the fearless woman who didn’t allow her surroundings to stop her from blossoming. I want my legacy to be shaped by how I handle adversity and continued to be consistent while pushing forward. Hopefully, it will set the foundation for others to do the same. Be yourself however that shows up, and the right people will gravitate towards you.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My proudest moment right now would be going to Africa and actually getting the opportunity to teach there in Accra, Ghana. I found a dance community there that welcomed me with open arms and allowed me to teach them my offerings. It was the most amazing experience that I am looking forward to doing again.

Started with Traditional West African dance as a child, which catapulted me into training in various dance styles. People have always been captivated while watching me dance, so I decided to create a dance fitness program to allow others to dance with me. I started this because I saw a need for a safe place for people to be free enough to be themselves, however that shows up. It’s been proven that dance can be a wonderful form of healing therapy. I would like to think of myself as a dance therapist who ushers people out of their comfort zones & into movements that are freeing and can relieve them of their everyday stresses, even if for the moment.

It hasn’t been the smoothest road for me. I have had to go through harsh criticisms from industry peers, saying I am too much, and I need to dial myself down to accommodate more people. So this made me question my self-worth and why can’t I just be less for everyone else’s comfort. I made the self-affirming decision to be as much as I am, and the right people will gravitate to me. No longer dimming my light for others. It has been so freeing and rewarding to myself and others who support me.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The person that has inspired and motivated me to keep going is my best hype-woman, Erica Brown. She has witnessed the evolution of me and my brand for over 8 years. Her belief in my vision and goals made her the best person to confide in or ask for assistance when needed because she has been on the same frequency as me, so that made it easy to express myself in a way others wouldn’t have received. She deserves all the accolades as a life coach, therapist, energy bringing, energy giver, and all around great person. Shoutout to my “left brain” sister in my life, ERIC BROWN – soon to be Dr. Brown
