Meet Danielle Holloway-St.Arromand | Mental Health Therapist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Holloway-St.Arromand and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danielle, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
I hope to share more light on the importance of creating safe spaces for black people to process their trauma and every day life. My end goal is to create a thriving private practice that focuses on women’s health issues, self esteem, infertility, couples counseling and more importantly hormonal imbalances. I hope to spread more information on Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and the intersectionality with mental health issues.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Growing up i always wanted to be within the criminal Justice field , however , i later realized i wanted to help my community more than community policing would allow me to do. I seen the power first hand of what great mentorship could do for others. What sets me apart from others within the field is i provide a space for those who may feel forgotten. After being diagnosed with PCOS at 19 with no information but to take birth control, I wanted to find a group of women who were also struggling. Through my career as a therapist i found many other women also struggling with PCOS who desperately yearned for additional support. I am most proud of building a weekly support group discussing depression, anxiety, sex, fertility, sleep issues, etc for those suffering with PCOS. I want the world to know that you don’t have to suffer alone and it’s not all in your head. Sometimes it’s okay to ask for help.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One thing for certain is i love a good time Out. If my best friend was visiting the first place we would go is to a nice brunch. I would then follow up with a trip to the museum, preferably an art gallery. We would also make time for a spa day because self care duh lol. Lastly we would end our weekends with a nice dress up dinner followed by cocktails.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would not be the therapist I am today without the knowledge I’ have received from Lehman College and mentors I have been fortunate enough to meet along the way.
