We had the good fortune of connecting with Danica Eakman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danica, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
There were many years where I wondered, is there a career out there that I would truly enjoy? If so, what and where the hell is it? Because I enjoy working but I wanted to be truly fulfilled and passionate about what I was doing, not just going through the motions. During the darkest time of my life, sound baths presented themselves to me and allowed me to quiet the anxiety I was having for the first time in my life. I was going through a round of IVF with my husband and the stress and anxiety of it all was too much to bear at times. I was doing so many forms of healing, talk therapy, acupuncture, yoga, etc and nothing was helping me the way the first chime of the bowl did. I heard the bowl and I immediately knew I had to do this for everyone struggling with anxiety. I didn’t know how or where to begin. I just kept taking the steps to create my business, one after the other. i bought my first set of bowls, took my first few sound bath courses to become certified and then along came my first client. I have been filled with purpose and passion ever since!

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is called Green Door Sound Bath. I offer sound baths for private clients, groups, corporate clients and also reiki. The thing I am most proud of in my business is that I keep moving forward every day. Keep spreading the word about a form of healing that not everyone is familiar with. I have got to where I am today in my business by working every day to educate others on the benefits of sound baths. Staying consistent with my messaging, responding quickly and thoughtfully to my clients. Being authentic and truly passionate about what I do. I was not sure how to keep spreading the word about sound baths so I formed a female entrepreneur networking event group and the support from that group has been amazing. We are now at over 300 women in the Seattle area who all get together every other month to support and talk business with each other. I want the world to know how sound baths can help from a mental, emotional, spiritual and physical level. They are great for stress, anxiety, depression, sleep quality, connecting with your subconscious, resetting and restoring your nervous system, or a soul massage, as I like to call it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my girls were visiting me in my city I would take them to Fern Thai in Old Bellevue for lunch. Delicious thai food and then afterward we would walk over to Glassybaby and shop candle holders that a portion of the proceeds go to charity. This is a very seattle thing to do! Next we would head home to my home on Hunts Point, WA and take the boat out and cruise around Lake Washington over to Lake Union and enjoy a sunny day in the shadow of the space needle.
As the sun is setting we would pull the boat up to Ivar’s Fish House and grab some fish and chips and eat dinner while we watch the sunset.
Next day we would wake up and go to Hola House in Kirkland, WA for a restorative yoga class paired with a sound bath. Walk around downtown Kirkland, pop into the shops along the waterfront. Next over to Find Your Center, my favorite crystal shop and shop some more! Followed by a nice dinner at Kathakali in Kirkland, WA for delicious Indian food.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband, Stacy Eakman. He is a serial entrepreneur and a risk taker. Quite the opposite of me. He gave me a loan to buy my first 20 bowls, Pushed me to chase my passion. Held my hand through the process of starting my own business in Washington State and has supported me every step along the way. I feel very grateful and humbled by all the wisdom and support he has shown me and continues to show me.
