Meet Dandi-Lione Howell: Artist, Actress, & Model

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dandi-Lione Howell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dandi-Lione, what inspires you?
As I pursue being an actress and model, I am inspired by animals because of how they look and hunt. There are two particular animals that carry the most influence, the wolf and the lion. The lion’s leadership and dominance stand out because it helps me as I pursue my dreams by attacking them without fear. The wolf’s characteristics of bravery and loyalty are important to me because I know I have to be strong and willing to take chances but I cannot do it alone and I am fortunate to have parents and a sister that support me completely. I am also inspired by art because of the many different forms that can be used to create a finished product. I believe through this inspiration it helps me to stay focused as I pursue my dream of being an actress and model because of all of the different types of people and personalities that can be used to create a final product. To help me keep a clear mind I like to draw and paint hills, oceans, the sky, and of course animals. As I continue to grow and get older, I am beginning to realize that taking time to clear my mind is important so that my focus when I am working can be strong.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When I expressed that I had a love for art I started taking art classes but I did not realize I had a real talent till I was in my own space teaching myself and learning what I really liked to draw and paint through trial and error. This made it easy for me to just create on a canvas, paper, or whatever is available allowing me to be in my free space. Even though I do have my dreams that I am pursuing I am most excited about finally getting into the family business which is our cosmetics line, Demiere Cosmetics, and I am proud to say that it is actually named after me Dandi-Lione Demiere Howell. This is what makes my accomplishing my dreams so special to me because I will be able to use the creative skills that I learn over the years and use them to help the business grow. Even though I do like to learn through trial and error I have to thank Bob Ross and all of the videos he produced. These videos not only allow me to draw and paint earthy images he also teaches me patience and the importance of details in the way that he blends and fades colors. And if I have to take one lesson learned from him it’s don’t always try to take the easy way by mixing too many colors and always using wide, flat brushes because precision and attention to detail is important. What I would like the world to know about me is that I am a creative individual and my mom named her makeup line after me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take my best friend and sister, Demi, to Nashville, TN to enjoy all of our favorite things that we like to do together games, eating, shopping, water parks, and movies. It would be a 4-day trip so that we can enjoy everything to the fullest. Day one would be at Dave & Busters for many games, prizes, food and finished off with a day of shopping in the Opry Mills mall which is attached. Day two would be filled with more shopping downtown at UAL and finished off with a movie. Day 3 would be spent at Nashville Shores one of our favorite water parks where we would enjoy all fun slides, the lazy river, and eat all of the junk food we can eat. Day 4 would be a day to just enjoy each other talking and laughing about all of the fun we had over the past few days and planning even more fun times together.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my dad, mom, and my sister. My parents and the example that they set through hard work and dedication as husband and wife, parents, and business partners. They are my example and inspiration that anything is possible as long as you put your mind to it and commit understanding that there may be fallbacks. But those fallbacks are only lessons to learn from when trying again but to never give up. This foundation that has been laid by them has been important during my 11 years. My sister is my best friend and one of my biggest supporters. We are fortunate to have a voice in our process which I believe is important because once they are done raising us, they believe we should be doing something that we want to do instead something they want us to do. I also would like to dedicate my shoutout to the book series Warrior Cats written by Erin Hunter, because her books allow me to be with the animals and nature which is a place of happiness for me.
