We had the good fortune of connecting with Danaita King and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danaita, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process behind starting my own business for me was a few things. For one I didn’t come from a rich family, a family that knew what being a business owner was like, or even one that was willing to take risks. In the family I come from yes they work hard but they were raised to rely on security and for me, that was not an option. There were things I wanted as a kid and my family couldn’t afford them, it was hard times, many times. I didn’t want that, I wanted to create a legacy for my family and I wanted something my nieces and nephews can benefit from long after I leave this earth and I needed to do that by showing them how to be business owners, and keep generational wealth going. The other part is being for others what I needed as a kid. I needed visual representation. I needed someone close to me to be that teacher and help me to learn what my skill or niche was. So I knew I had to become that.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I don’t think my story is really unique, I mean let’s be honest everyone has a story. I think for me like I stated earlier, I wanted that visual representation as a kid and I still look for it as an adult. It wasn’t until I became an adult that I really learned what my purpose was. My purpose is to be and create the spaces that I needed. The way for me to do that is through my non-profit organization called Family and Friends Unite To Uplift Relationships Everywhere (F.U.T.U.R.E.). Formally founded in 2019, F.U.T.U.RE. is a coalition of family and friends who share the common goal of giving back to our community, beginning with the youth. Specifically, F.U.T.U.R.E.’s aim is to empower its community and improve its neighborhoods by providing at-risk youth with professional development and other tools and resources needed to succeed. Accordingly, F.U.T.U.R.E. has worked to foster connections and relationships amongst community members and local schools, entrepreneurs, professionals, businesses, politicians, and other decision-makers, in an effort to route available resources to areas where they are needed most. We plan to empower the youth by surrounding them with instances of exemplary integrity, respect, and leadership, and fostering community ties by, among other things, performing and encouraging community service. We believe, “it takes a village to raise a child” and wish to assume our respective roles. We aspire to create life-changing experiences by giving back, investing in the community, and filling in the gap. Another way I am able to foster this is through education. I have earned 2 business degrees from Clark Atlanta University where I also work as a part-time Business Instructor. I have taken all the business knowledge I have learned throughout the years along with the business relations I have made, and the experience I have, and started a business podcast called Talking Business Over Brunch (TBOB) Unlike traditional business podcasts, TBOB isn’t just about interviews; it’s about fostering genuine conversations, creating connections, and building networks. We believe in the power of unscripted dialogues that capture real stories, failures, and triumphs. Our unique blend of casual brunch settings and insightful discussions creates an atmosphere where guests open up authentically. Many aspiring entrepreneurs and professionals face a lack of relatable insights. They often find polished success stories unattainable and struggle with imposter syndrome. Our podcast addresses this by sharing diverse experiences, untold challenges, and practical advice. We help bridge the gap between textbook knowledge and the real hurdles of business journeys through live conversations. My podcast taps into the power of storytelling. We invite entrepreneurs, executives, and industry leaders to share their stories, highlighting the highs and lows of their journeys. This narrative approach humanizes success and showcases the authenticity behind every achievement.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I will say I am still learning the city because I am from New York, but some places I go would be somewhere to ride ATVS, there is a place called Slingshot that looks fun but I have never been. I loved LOA rooftop, Rum punch brunch, (having a real brain fart) anywhere that has nice cocktails, Restaurants Toast on Lenox has great food, Breakfast at barneys, and mamas tacos, especially on a late night. (I cant think of many cause I literally am having a blank moment.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I think my story should be dedicated to every bad situation, every failed attempt, and anyone who ever doubted me. It helped mold me into who I am today. If everything was all good all the time and everything was handed tome how would I value anything I’ve been through?
