We had the good fortune of connecting with Damon Allen aka Trippyy Pappi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Trippyy Pappi, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I was born in Norfolk Virginia I was raised in Naples Italy and Jacksonville Fl where I spent most of my life in travels I’ve seen things others dream of I was inspired to create through the art and musical arts I discovered in travel being a African American male in U.S it’s often assumed us as creators all are hood or thugs where I may have a urban and gangster sound every now and again the culture I experienced won’t allow me to be ignorant to my wisdom and my opinion and my heart I make all music.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m not tryna be your favorite rapper I refuse to position myself in a idol or iconic form I’m no one to worship. I’m no rapper I wanna break the chain in limiting or creative ways and views I’m a genius in my art with a thirst to learn and raise standards. I’m most proud of my growth I use to make nothing more then hip hop and rap some sounds melodic and some dark. Now I make rock pop and rap and I sing now lol sounds crazy if ya know me but I blocked my gift my shine my light in fear of the next person’s opinion no more chains I’m unlocked. Overcoming challenges my heart was one I’ve turned down many opportunities for loved ones and others I thought believed in me my life in Jacksonville Fl was a dangerous wild ride I storm made by my hand that I learned to walk through. I’ve learned that this life we live the opinions that people create and the ones we form of ourselves can be in the way of your success and I’ve learned to love myself by letting my light shine and my voice be heard I’ve made music over 13 years and I’ve recorded and with held every song and project in fear I’ve learned my life worth more then the fear I’ve held and I now realize I was in my way I’m ready now. Trippyy Pappi and Trippyy Gang Music Group is a brand of many sounds and stories y’all gotta tune in to see love y’all
