We had the good fortune of connecting with Damesha Ellis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Damesha, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
My end goal is to have a beauty spa I’m In school now finishing up this month actually so I can prepare for my state board and become a licensed esthetician. In the state of Ga now you have to be licensed to do makeup and pretty much anything face or body related. So always keeping in the back of my mind and acting on that I need to run my business’ like a business. Once I become licensed I have a few investors for my spa , thank god ! I want it to be a place of facials, makeup, waxing and more . I’m also going to get onto skin care that was so big to me for my clients to have to offer to them because truly a great makeup application starts with the care of your skin and the care of your skin in the most important thing! So own my beauty spa and expanding is where I see myself by the end of my career. I also love love love to cook it’s super therapeutic to me and I make and sell plates every Friday , I could see me indulging in that a little you know baby different streams but whatever those streams look like I wanna make sure I love it and it’s fun for me . Cause if I’m not doing anything I love their is truly no point .

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Im a makeup artist here in the Atlanta Area , I truly love love love the energy I get from women once their makeup is done. It’s give me drive to keep going even after 5 almost 6 years of doing it . Im most proud and excited to start this new journey with my clients as I expand in product and business . I truly got to where I’m at by putting myself out there by networking and reaching out to different photographers or other artist that need a makeup artist and also just if there is a way to deliver and promote myself take it nobody is gonna do that for you . It’s definitely not easy it still isn’t but the loyalty of your clients continues to help you push forward! Network, market , branding and staying consistent! My brand is for all women the natural and serene woman that loves a neutral tone and just some lipgloss and the full glam glitter girl!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was in town I would take her to breakfast at Barney’s for brunch we definitely have to do brunch and Mimosas! You know one thing about atl we gone do brunch and mimosas mmmkay ! Then I would take her to divan for dinner man they got the best lamb chops and hookah! I love the drinks from southern queens so I would definitely rake her there for drinks !

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have some pretty amazing people around me . All my friends motivate and encourage me in so many different ways. I feel as though we all should be around people that continue to lift us up and inspire us especially if we don’t have the energy to do it ourselves because life does happen. I’d love to shoutout my friend that I call my fairy boss muva London Arde owner of the fabulous factory her consistency and drive is beautiful, it definitely encourages me and she always had me wanting to think of ways outside the box to get some money. My best friend Danielle Jackson is the owner of Brwnsugr Co her salon is the cutest she specializes in natural hair and she has my hair the healthiest and longest it’s been in a while, she keeps me grounded I think we do that for each other just truly knowing when to show up . My soul sista lexis is just there anytime we had a hard year last year and we have kept each other mentally strong with the help of Jesus Christ himself . My girls Amiyah and Nika keep me going keep me energized and keep laughter in my heart . I can’t forget my boyfriend Zulu he reminds me to always keep my eye on the bigger picture, we both always Keep each other reminded of our dreams and I think that’s truly important.
