Meet Dajairea Carter: Creative Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dajairea Carter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dajairea, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My main thought process behind starting my own business was the wanting of creating a brand that represented not just who I am creatively but also a pushing fourth of showing how beautifully creative men and women of color are when it comes to our trades of businesses and the showing of how we are more than just the “hoopers” and “singers” that are always displayed through the media. 

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
With becoming and being a Creative Director, it definitely took some work lol ! When first starting out I went through some challenges with not following the specific guidelines of how most creative directors move which made me feel out of place. I at times allowed the normality of this work to make me go back and fourth within myself on a number of occasions with specific projects which in reality costed me opportunities. But you know what I did to turn that back and forth mindset around? I first dealt with my self and allowed god to deal with me on allowing fear too plague my mind when it came to stepping out of the norm when I would do projects. Then I surrounded myself with my family and allowed them to deal with me and reprove & encourage me as long as I needed. When I tell you as I was getting that work done on me it changed my mental flow in such a way that it shocked me ! And with all that being said, I truly learned that when you allow truth, wisdom, reproving, and reality to hug you, that is when the true rising of your success takes place! And truly that is what my brand is all about.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
See here in Atlanta where I’m at, there is so much that you can get into! So whether it’s the Music Festivals, Coca Cola factory or even all our good eating food restaurants downtown, that’s where I would be bringing all my visitors that roll with me! Honestly these places that I name our definitely the places to checkout while being here.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First I would love, and always have to give a shoutout to Yah (God) who has/is always been the main support, truth, and saving grace of my life. And honestly second, I would have to say particularly my immediate family, Melvin Carter (father), Vearlynn Carter (mother), Darrius Carter (brother), Dajana Carter (sister) and Devlin Carter (brother) for always being truth, love, examples and strong guidance throughout my life.
