We had the good fortune of connecting with D. Shawn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi D., what do you attribute your success to?
God, and my determination to win regardless of the situations I may be in

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve been singing since I was 4 years old. Got my degree frim NCCU in music/Vocal Performance and a minor in Jazz Studies
Have opened up and collaborated with numerous artists and brands such as Sony music, Tank, Ginuwine, Anthony Hamilton and more.
Recently had my first Christmas album “Meet Me Under the Mistletoe” placed on a movie called Whatever it Takes on BET, and Vol 2 of my Christmas album is out now.
Can sing in different languages, and I teach vocal/piano to a myriad of students

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would probably set something up if I didn’t have anything going on in the city already. If my friend wants to have the best time I’ll make sure we do it big.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Gotta show love to my team. From my mom who’s my biggest supporter, to Soul, my manager, My band, and all my listeners and friends
