Meet Cynthia (Linke) Lincoln | Coffee Shop Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Cynthia (Linke) Lincoln and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cynthia (Linke), Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
For me, kindness is the cornerstone of everything I do. I truly believe that kindness makes the world go around. In my personal interactions, I strive to treat everyone with the utmost kindness because you never know what battles someone may be fighting behind closed doors. A simple smile or a kind word has the power to make a significant difference in someone’s day, and I take pride in embodying this philosophy in every aspect of my life.
In running my shop, kindness is not just a principle but a guiding value. I aim to create a space where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and appreciated. Whether it’s my customers, employees, or members of the community, I believe that kindness fosters a positive and uplifting environment that benefits everyone involved.
Ultimately, kindness is not just a virtue but a way of life that I am committed to embracing wholeheartedly. It’s my belief that by spreading kindness, we can make our world a brighter and more compassionate place for all.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My shop, Man’s Best Friend Cafe, is a tribute to my beloved soul dog and first rescue, Zoe. Each month, we proudly donate 10% of our profits to local rescues and shelters, embodying our commitment to supporting our furry friends and our community.
The journey to where I am today was filled with challenges, but it was fueled by determination and strength. As a 21-year-old female entrepreneur, I faced skepticism and prejudice from various quarters. Contractors, city officials, and even some family members doubted my capabilities, assuming that I wasn’t the driving force behind the venture. I encountered attempts to take advantage of me due to my age and gender, with some trying to undercut my quotes or disregard my input.
Through these experiences, I learned a valuable lesson: never compromise with those who don’t respect you. I had to switch contractors multiple times because of their lack of regard for my authority and expertise. I refuse to work with individuals who judge me based on superficial factors rather than my abilities and dedication. In business, prejudice should have no place, and I’m determined to uphold this principle.
Above all, I want people to understand that my shop is more than just a business—it’s a platform for positive change. I’m here to advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves, to provide a haven for those in need, and to champion equality and inclusivity. Man’s Best Friend Cafe isn’t just about supporting pets; it’s about uplifting our entire community in any way we can.
When you walk through our doors, you’re not just a customer—you’re a friend. What sets us apart is our genuine care and appreciation for each individual who graces us with their presence. At Man’s Best Friend Cafe, everyone is welcomed with open arms and treated like family.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’d definitely hit the trails! The hike from Unicoi to Helen offers breathtaking scenery, followed by a delightful day exploring Helen. A must-stop is my favorite fudge shop, Hansel and Gretel Candy Kitchen—nostalgic memories of visiting with my dad flood back every time I step in.
Next on the agenda? A bakery/cafe crawl in Cornelia! With a plethora of bakeries boasting delectable treats, it’s a sugar lover’s paradise.
Then, a stroll down memory lane in Clarkesville. Growing up here, I cherished aimless walks around town, reminiscing about old haunts and sharing anecdotes with friends. One gem I always revisit is the Historic Mauldin House Garden, where I used to lose myself in books and marvel at the enchanting fairy houses.
On the weekends, I love taking friends to Jaemor Farms. In the summer, they usually have some kind of picking event, but nothing beats enjoying homemade ice cream with fresh fruit while soaking up the sun and watching the birds go by. It’s a serene escape from the hustle and bustle—a moment to simply pause and breathe.
To cap off the week, it’s game time at the bowling alley followed by a visit to the Copper Pot. Trust me, if you want to impress someone, the Copper Pot is the place to be.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My dad. He believed in me until the very end and I wouldn’t be where I am today without him.
