We had the good fortune of connecting with Curtis Menifield Jr. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Curtis, what makes you happy? Why?
What makes me happy? First off, I would say food. I love to eat as many can tell. I don’t play about a meal or snack. With my career choice; seeing people enjoy themselves and leaving with a smile, is the best feeling an event coordinator desire. I’m a people pleaser and love to cater towards entertainment wants of guest.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have always been the creative/planner person for my family and friends. My brand is to provide an overall experience of enjoyment, ease, and entertainment. I provide a 360 treatment where you would only have to pull up and enjoy yourself and not worry if the small things are handled. What I’m most proud of and sets me apart from others is how I put myself in other’s shoes and ask “If this was your event, would you be satisfied?” When I first wanted to start coordinating and express my creativity, I was so timid and fearful of what someone would say or how would they react. It was not easy. It wasn’t until I expressed an idea to someone and that person took the idea as their own. The situation showed me that a closed mouth don’t get fed. My challenges were mainly about how to correlate everything together to make sense and how to make money. With those challenges came lessons. The challenges taught me that eventually you will get a ‘Yes’. Do not get discourage about anything that you can’t control; Put yourself in places where you feel the most uncomfortable, and open your mouth because opportunities are shy also. Something I want the world to know about me is I am human, I take risk, but the risk I have taken are bettering my craft where you will get the sharpest knife on the kitchen shelf.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m in the ATL. I might not be from here but I can show someone a good time. As you come in on a Friday event, after a long day at work and now you’re driving to the city. The first thing you want is some food and rest. Let’s go do to the food bank where the options are unlimited. After you have filled that belly and widen that back, lets go chill down town and let you see the city on the Sky Wheel so you can ask me what is what. Once we get off, the ride, we’ll walk up to StateFarm Arena and enjoy a Hawks game or vibe out at a concert. After the concert, let’s go to hotel and get some rest because the weekend haven’t started yet. Saturday morning, We are going for a morning walk in Piedmont Park and enjoy some fresh air and coffee, and visit breakfast spot close to the area. I enjoy Sixflags, so me being a thrill seeker, let’s go ride some rides. I’ll try not to exhaust you too much because we are going out tonight. WE ARE HITTING THE CLUB TONIGHT! (After a little nap) Go out to the club and Uber back to the room. Sunday morning, we are going to the new church. BRUNCH! Unlimited mimosas, lamb chops, crab legs, shrimp and grits, and whatever else. I know you are probably tired but you can’t say you didn’t have fun. I have had the most fun downtown visiting the arena, stadium, and local bars. I love the mountains and adventures Atlanta brings. We would have a good time.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I tear up when I’m asked to give a shoutout to someone. I would have to start with God. As I realize that I have all my needs, it takes my thoughts off my wants. I’m grateful for what’s provided. Secondly, I want to give a huge shoutout to my parents. They have held me down from the start and still show their support and love to this day. My family and friends are very special to me. I love my circle of people and I feel the love reciprocated. Lastly, I have to give a huge shoutout to Christal Jordan and Jayar Browne for believing in my talents and perfecting my skills. A lot of people say they will support you, but they have put the action behind their words. What the young folks say, “They stand on business!”
