We had the good fortune of connecting with Curtis Goode and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Curtis, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
I don’t really have an end goal. I feel that an end goal takes away from the journey of a creative. I’m not as much focused on the destination as I am on the joy, experiences and life lessons that God has for me on this journey. I would love to act until I’m no longer capable of doing so. I guess an end goal of mine would be to open my own acting studio(s) “Curt Studios” around the world. Professionally by the end of my career I hope to have achieved EGOT status. Whether I do or not I just want to be remembered as an actor who made the audience feel and relate to every character he portrayed.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Growing up in my hometown LaGrange, Ga you either played basketball or football. Acting wasn’t an option unless of course you took drama in high school. I always loved watching movies and re-enacting them with my family and friends. After graduating high school and then college I still felt a part of me was incomplete. I should’ve pursued acting fresh out of high school but I let fear and others opinions steer me away. I finally decided to listen to my heart and do what makes me happy which was acting. I started taking classes and honing in on the craft. It’s always a challenge but one I purely enjoy. The dedication to the craft as well as the consistent work required to better yourself as well as learn and know yourself in order to authentically let the character breath through you is like therapy to my soul. The challenges during the process become more like motivation instead. I’ve learned in this industry to not compare myself to others. I am enough. Social media and society will have you thinking you’re supposed to be at this point right now or be like this actor or that actor. I’m not trying to be the next Denzel Washington or Will Smith. I’m Curtis Javonte Goode. My journey is different. I try not to worry about the “when” because I know the “WIN” is coming. I want the world to know that I’m not an actor because I want to be famous and rich, even though that’s nice. I’m an actor because I enjoy telling stories that make us all feel in hopes of bringing awareness, joy, understanding and so much more to each and every one of us. A great film, music, a piece of art can bring us all together as human beings despite our differences and cause us to spread love between one another and that’s what the world needs more of. I’m just playing my part, get it?

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Atlanta Beltline is definitely one stop we have to make. From the street performances, art and trails you can’t go wrong. Ponce City Market is another on that list. Skyline park is a vibe. Games, rides, food, drinks and city views. You have to experience brunch. I recommend TOAST on Lenox, The Breakfast Boys, The Real Milk & Honey and BQE just to name a few. The High Museum of Art is another gem here in Atlanta. Especially during high frequency Fridays. There’s so much to do, you can’t go wrong.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give thanks to my parents. I don’t know where I’d be without them. I would like to thank my brothers as well for always believing in me and guiding me to my first ever acting class. I also want to thank my “tribe”, community of actor friends that are more like family now for always pushing me to grow and be better. Community is key in this industry. You’re only as good as your work ethic and the people you surround yourself with. I would also like to thank my wonderful coaches over the years that I’ve had the pleasure of training with. A big shoutout to my current coaches at ActHer Studios, Angela Davis, Racquel B. John & Lisa Timmons. I’ve learned so much about myself that I never knew and it’s made me so much more of a better actor. The knowledge that Angela brings, the special skills that Lisa teaches and the PASSION that Racquel has while teaching I feel everyone should experience. It’s a masterclass every time with them and I’m very grateful.
