We had the good fortune of connecting with Crystal Ogletree and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Crystal, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My decision to start my own business was driven by a combination of passion, community service, and a desire to create a welcoming space for people. I recognized the importance of putting in significant effort and hard work to build a successful venture. I also understood that aligning my business with my passion and calling was crucial.
My calling is to serve the community, providing a space where people can feel inspired and empowered, especially those who may feel limited in their opportunities. I wanted to create an environment where customers could feel a sense of belonging, where they could come to relax, connect, and find inspiration. This vision of building a community hub was a significant motivator for me.
Starting and running a business involves more than just a great idea; it requires dedication, resilience, and a willingness to learn and adapt. I spent a lot of time researching the market, understanding customer needs, and planning the operational aspects of my business. Networking with other business owners and seeking mentorship helped me gain valuable insights and avoid common pitfalls.
As you aspire to become a coffee shop owner, it’s essential to embrace the effort and dedication required. Understanding your passion and calling, like mine, can guide you in creating a business that not only serves great coffee but also becomes a cornerstone of inspiration and community support. Focus on building a strong business plan, cultivating a welcoming atmosphere, and continuously engaging with your community. Your dedication to serving and inspiring others will be the foundation of your success, just as it has been for mine.

One of the aspects I am most proud of is witnessing the transformation in the students I work with. Seeing them develop confidence, take on leadership roles, and make positive contributions to their communities is incredibly rewarding. It’s this tangible impact that fuels my passion and keeps me motivated every day.
My journey to where I am today professionally has been filled with challenges and learning experiences. It was not an easy path, but each obstacle taught me valuable lessons. Overcoming these challenges required resilience, adaptability, and a steadfast belief in the importance of my work. One of the key lessons I’ve learned is the power of persistence and the importance of staying true to one’s values and mission, even when faced with adversity.
