Meet Crystal Honcharik | Entrepreneur, Owner of Smooth Body Wax Center

We had the good fortune of connecting with Crystal Honcharik and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Crystal, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The process of creating Smooth Body Wax Center began with a thought about what I wanted to contribute to the beauty industry and to the world as a whole. It was important to me that Smooth Body be a place where people felt welcomed, were well taken care of and wanted to come back to. Not just our customers but also our employees. So, I was very intentional about all aspects of my company, from the experience that we provide our customers (who we call guests) to the experience of our employees (who we call partners).

As a client in the industry, I saw a need for affordable waxing services in a professional and welcoming environment. So, I started developing a brand and a concept, and felt driven to bring it into existence.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Smooth Body Wax Center is a community-oriented company that stands out from its competitors because we are hyper-focused on guest experience. We offer a warm and trendy environment that is welcoming from the moment our guests walk in. We want everyone to leave feeling smooth and ready to tell the world about us! But more than that we are a place that speaks health, happiness, and prosperity into everyone we meet. We celebrate each other’s success and support one another’s ideas. We encourage team-building and seek to see what is special in each individual we meet.

Creating a company is no easy task. This entire process has been amazing and totally frightening at the same time. But I remember to take it one day at a time and one task at a time. The big picture is actually a never ending to do list! But I say that with a soft smile because it has been very rewarding the entire way through. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or not smart or savvy enough, I remind myself that I am only one person and that life, our entire existence, is a learning experience. If I make a mistake, it was not because I was not trying my best or seeking cousel along the way. It was just another lesson to be learned, and I have to keep moving forward.

I want the world to know that Smooth Body Wax Center is a place that was created with you in mind. So come on in and give us a try. Feel free to let your hair down, take a deep breath and let it all out. When you leave, you will feel more confident and ready to take on the world.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love our city! I think we make some of the best food and have some of the best places. I would totally take my friend to eat at a restaurant called City Pharmacy where the food is great, and the drinks are better. There is this wonderful spot at the Yellow River to take a dip and let the kids play. For a morning cup of coffee, Mad LuLu’s is the best place for great coffee and socializing in neighboring Porterdale. When we’re ready for a good laugh, I love visiting Whole World Theater Company in Atlanta; it is always a good time full of laughter. I would also take her to Amici Pizza Bar for some live music on a Friday night. There is always something fun to do around town!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As a young girl, I was always allowed to believe that I could be anything in the world that I wanted to be and that I could do anything that I wanted to do. I want to shout out to my parents for always allowing me to dream big and bold. I truly believe that you can have anything in the world that you want. Where the is desire there is opportunity. I thank my parents for never discouraging my thoughts or blocking my desire and will to achieve great things. Because they believed in me, I was able to believe in myself.

I also have to send a shout out to my husband for supporting me and helping me through this process. There has been a lot to learn during this process and he has been by my side the entire way helping me get Smooth Body Wax Center off the ground. Without him, none of this would have been possible.

And finally, Jaclyn Roe has been a wonderful friend and a well of knowledge for me during this process. Her experience and expertise in the business of beauty has been an invaluable help in getting Smooth Body Wax Center open for business.
