Meet Crystal | Founder of The Curve Experience

We had the good fortune of connecting with Crystal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Crystal, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
My platform alleviates the stress for plus size and newbie masqueraders of having to search for what bands, section leaders, and designers at Carnival will cater to them. I supply a safe space for curvy masqueraders to feel heard and empowered by dismantling the myth that to take part you must be of a certain aesthetic. I also interview those who work behind the scenes to put together the entire carnival, parties, and events leading up to that big day.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If Anybody that knows me knows that I am a big foodie and I love to attend spaces where it’s a chill vibe. If my best friend ever came over to visit me here in Georgia. I would take her/him to one of my favorite Caribbean restaurants found in Lithonia, Ga called Spice House. They put a twist on popular dishes from different Caribbean islands like Haiti and Trinidad and Tobago to name a few also their drinks and the atmosphere is amazing. Another spot that I would take my friend to is “EPIC Movie theater”. I love how comfortable they make you feel, comfortable chairs, gourmet food and snacks and even a cool drink.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are four people that definitely has helped with the strength and success of “The Curve Experience”. I am honored to recognize Trini Cindy from “@TriniCindyLive”, Cris otherwise known as “@bahamianista”, K owner of “@FeteDolls” and My friend for over 20 years and counting Brianna. All of these women have always extended a helping hand when I needed it, advice whenever I asked for it, and definitely kept my foot planted and focused on my mission and goals for my platform. You ladies all came into my life at the perfect time telling me what I needed to hear, keeping my head on straight, recommending how I need to improve on my content and so much more. It means the world that I have four beautiful, intelligent, feminine yet powerful women paving the way for me.
