We had the good fortune of connecting with Cryss Simmons Founder + Creative Director and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cryss Simmons, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?

Short answer. The arts have called me ever since I came out of the womb. My father was a singer, my Granny had an amazing singing voice, my mother was an actor and my uncles were musicians. I couldn’t help but be a creative; it’s in my DNA. I honestly thought I was going to be the next R&B/Jazz Superstar, but the way my life is set up, it didn’t happen that way. Instead, I was able to be creative as an entrepreneur – healing skin issues of the people and sometimes issues of the heart too!

What should our readers know about your business?

We love what we do here at Lamb and Honey. Lamb and Honey is a plant based body care brand based out of Atlanta, GA. We are where self care meets soul care. We create clean, sustainable, plant based body care products such as butters, oils, soap and scrubs in small batches because we recognize that what we put on our bodies is just as important as what we put in our bodies! We use quality ingredients to heal our skin from issues such as eczema, hyperpigmentation, stretch marks and scars. Every bottle and jar has an affirmation to help you re-member who you are, that you are capable of surviving personal challenges, that you are triumphant and victorious! This is how we illuminate the outer you while loving and elevating the inner you.

Two lessons I have learned while building my business is (1) prepare your systems, (2) remain open and coachable. This may sound cliché but it’s the truth. If you take the time to prepare your systems, write out your policies and procedures – it will save yourself time energy and money which will result into you being able to clearly articulate your expectations among the team without confusion – especially when it’s time to hire your first employee! Remaining coachable is beneficial to the health of your business; there is ALWAYS someone with a great idea that may propel your business to the next level and most importantly, that you how grow as person. Understanding you don’t have to be the smartest person in the room will ultimately save your life and the life of your business.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is such a fun question! I am self proclaimed foodie, so we are most definitely going to eat and eat some more! Cuts Steakhouse Atlanta

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate this post and give all thanks to God, my Granny aka Honey. She helped me get to this place. She encouraged to keep going, she reminded often that I can do ALL the things if I focus and keep my head down.
