We had the good fortune of connecting with Crook Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Crook, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
I was unaware how calculated everything is. Roll outs and post roll outs are group discussed in strategy meetings. When done right and ran like a business they are highly effective.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Well I’m a hip hop artist with an uncontrollable love for music. I don’t even remember when I wasn’t creating music. I’ve always had unrealeased songs in my head that I would act out in my alone time as a kid. I’ve always been a writer I believe I was truly made to be this way. I got as far as I am today with a lot of help and hard work. You work hard and people will help you, but you need people to help definitively! It’s not easy and I’m not done. I’m learning more and more everyday what is my brand. I guess my brand is just being a human. Sure I have some unique perspectives being from the streets, but what really makes me stand out is how vulnerable I am as a human, even though I have a “harder” exterior.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh we’re definitely hitting The Vault on Bankhead to get that incredible red snapper for a late lunch . Hawks game, Falcons, or Braves or all 3 can’t miss! Go to Ourbar to have drinks later. Saturday morning brunch at Krush in East Point. Go do some midday walking and shopping along the beltline. Go start my Saturday night at Taste On Pine where my girl Liv has amazing drinks!!! And the salmon is incredible! End it at Magic City. Sunday morning go to Stone Mountain for a walk and go to Old National on sundays to look at the old school cars and we’re good to go!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yea I definitely want to shout out my team over at Colture that is so focused on helping me flourish in music. Also I gotta give a few people a shoutout. My family, My old managers Marq, Byrd, & April, my current manager Woody, my friend/accountability partner Marchell Sade for keeping me encouraged and recommending me for this opportunity, all the producers especially my partner in crime Samtrax and just everyone that ever showed love or supported me. Thank you seriously.
