We had the good fortune of connecting with Courtney Randolph and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Courtney, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business started off as a way to make extra money in college. I would help people work through their ideas by putting them in writing. As I got older, and realized that I was impacting and changing the lives of people around me. My thought process to keep going was understanding that this is what God called me to do, this was my gift. To get paid for something I actually enjoyed doing. I began to invest in my business because I recognized it is my purpose to help change lives for the better. I began to write resumes, tutor, and brand myself more. When starting with the vending business, I thought why limit myself to one side hustle, when there can be another that actually pays the bills. I wanted to do something that I felt would allow me to make money in my sleep. My thought processes were the goals and visions I saw for my family.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Getting It Write is about helping people with their writing skills as well as doing cover letters, resumes, and tutoring. I am most proud of my ability to be reliable and deliver while watching those who take advantage of my services excel in their education and career. I have watched people get their Bachelor’s, Masters, and Doctoral degrees from using my services. I have even witnessed testimonies of people getting their dream jobs and reaching out to me by saying my services have changed their lives. I believe that’s what sets my business apart. I think the hardest part for me was time management. Trying to find the time to run a business on top of working a 9 to 5 and being a parent. I think my passion for writing and helping people allowed me to find balance in my schedule to cater to the needs of my family, job, and businesses. A lesson I learned along the way is to never give up and word of mouth is still very relevant even with the presence of social media and advertising tools. The best marketing to me is when one of my clients reaches out to me saying they heard about me through someone else. Working with people who I have never met that put so much trust in my abilities to deliver on their needs is powerful and motivates me to keep going.

Right Bite Vending is a new vending service that my significant other and I started recently. We are excited about helping and providing snacks and drinks to businesses who are interested in our services. This was not easy, but staying focused with a goal of success in mind is how we executed our plan. It is our goal for Right Bite to expand into as many businesses as possible. It is still a learning process, however the biggest lesson from starting this business that we took away was, you can only guarantee failure if you never start.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting, we would definitely have to hit a sushi spot. I think the overlook is a great place to hang out and watch planes take off. I would also find cute places with nice scenery to snap some cute pictures. Of course shopping would need to be on the itinerary. A nice brunch and beach would also be the vibe.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I know that nothing would be possible without God so shoutout to him of course. Also, the constant encouragement and support from my significant other and business partner always believing in me. He is an independent artist. Definitely go stream his music on all platforms under BigWop! My family has always been supportive. My daughter, my parents, my family, and friends always motivate me and support me.
