Meet Courtney Houston | Creator and Founder of Shadowing Pros

We had the good fortune of connecting with Courtney Houston and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Courtney, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe when it comes to “Risk Taking” it forces you to bet, believe, and trust in yourself more than you ever thought you could. The phrase “When there is no risk there is no Reward” really reigns true, because most times to get a different result or outcome you have to change your path. The biggest risk I took was moving away from my hometown (comfort-zone) to pursue my dreams in the Film/Tv and Theatre industry. That risk has allowed me to accomplish many goals and experience opportunities that I most likely would not have been able to do if I never moved away from home.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Shadowing Pros is a company that is dedicated too inspiring, educating, inform, entertain, and connecting passionate creators to the Film,TV, and Theatre industry. This company was created out of my own disappointments and lack of knowledge when trying to get into the entertainment industry. I knew their had to be other people out in the world who felt like me, and even though their are many establishments in Georgia that are geared towards the same objective as mine, that did not stop me from wanting to contribute my passion, knowledge, and willing to give to people who desire to have a fruitful career in the entertainment industry. Shadowing Pros provides interviews from individuals who work in front and behind the camera. I believe it’s important to give insight to the multiple careers that mold the entertainment industry together, because I believe each career speaks to someones talents that they may or may not know they have. Shadowing Pros also keeps you informed on casting calls, career opportunities, and last but not least workshops that will be geared towards Shadowing professionals.

What I would like for the world to know about myself is that I am a passionate person who will take the time to help anyone in the capacity that I am able to, and that is what Shadowing Pros is all about as well. We are here to provide you with real, authentic, and off the script entertainment, knowledge, and opportunities that will help you towards your desire in Film,Tv, and Theatre.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One thing about Georgia is that there is always something going on from concerts, festivals, comedy shows and more. Further more when you come to Georgia I highly advise you have money for Parking, tipping, and a GOOD TIME! But because I don’t care for overly sized crowds I would look for small carnivals, so we can get delicious carnival food, if something is playing in the theater we must go see it, and lastly try going to shopping stores and restaurants that we haven’t been before. Georgia has great food trucks all over the place, and restaurants ducked off in the corners of the city that exploring those makes the food more mouth watering.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my parents for supporting me where I needed during and throughout my courages journey to my dreams. I am happy that they are both still alive to see the fruits on my labor.

I would like to shoutout my Sister Erin for donating her hard earned money to my vision

I would like to shoutout my cousin Danyale W. for always supporting my failed/successful Ideas. Also being my “hype-man” to the public eye, and liking/sharing everything I post online.

I would like to shoutout my boyfriend Derrick, for giving me words of encouragement and help whenever he is able to.

I would like to shoutout my Mentor Roxanne Hammond for encouraging me, and giving me advice/insight for the path that I desired to go down in the entertainment industry. Further more helping me get my foot in the door to the Film Industry, which has been very rewarding.
