We had the good fortune of connecting with Cory Hodge and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cory, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m the knee baby of the family – the third boy out of four boys to a single mother. I was born and raised in Carol City in Miami, Florida. Growing up in Miami, I grew up around a lot of different people and cultures. Miami is a melting pot of people and ideas that have manifested greatness. Theres no place like Miami. I think that’s why I’m such a people’s person because of where I grew up. My wife says I’ve never met a stranger because I easily attract the attention of and vibe well with anyone. I’ve always been that way though even as a kid and because of it, I’ve been exposed to seeing the different ways people navigate life. It’s taught me to take risks and always be open to learning more.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been a CDL truck driver for 10 years in the food service industry. It’s has been both challenging and rewarding making sure that products are delivered safely and on time to stores within this region. My expertise in handling food products safely and efficiently and my attention to detail and adherence to food safety regulation has helped me build a positive reputation amongst my employer and store managers that I work with. My great communication skills have made it easy building positive rapports with people at each delivery stop. Thinking about the past ten years, I take pride in the significant contributions that I have made in the food service industry as a driver. My role may have been behind the scenes but my efforts have been essential in keeping the supply chain running smoothly.

I’ve been fascinated with seeing 18 wheelers on the road since I was a kid. I was one of those that when I saw one riding by, I would pump my arms up and down in hopes that they would hunk their horns when they rode by. Now I do it as a driver.

When I think about what I want the world to know about my brand of being an EUC rider is that electric transportation is the future…another mode of transportation. The electric unicycle is fun to ride once you’ve mastered maintaining your balance ..just like you had to learn balance with riding a bicycle. It’s not hard. Check us out.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The Atlanta Beltline is where I would take family and friends from out of town. There are many shops, restaurants, parks and people up and down the Belt Line. It’s a great place to ride as well. You’ll see EUCs, bicyclists, and scooter riders on the trails. I love that area.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shout out to Mike Rodgers at wctv news in Tallahassee Florida for putting me on the news after seeing me riding around town.

There are many groups of electric unicycle riders that have embraced me and welcomed me to ride with them throughout their respective cities : Tallahassee PEV, True 2 One out of New York, Jax Electric Vehicle Riders out of Jacksonville, Chicago EUC, Detroit EUC, Electric Wheelers of Georgia which is the current group that I ride with now based out of Atlanta.
