We had the good fortune of connecting with Corey & Kiara Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Corey & Kiara, what do you want people to remember about you?
We hope our community remembers atl kula as an organization that helps communities be well in the ways that matter the most. Our foundation, The Kula Care Foundation, is on a mission to create spaces and provide resources that foster true well-being with focus areas that include mental health, food deserts, and affordable housing. We wish for our legacy to be one that fulfills this mission and helps every family live a healthier life.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We opened atl kula Wellness Studio in March 2020 and launched The Kula Care Foundation in December 2021. Our vision is to give every family hope and freedom to live a healthier life. What makes our organization special is our commitment to addressing the root causes of what makes families unwell. In addition to the life-changing mind-body practices of yoga, Pilates, barre, and tai chi that we offer in studio, we focus deeply on mental health and fundamental issues like food deserts and affordable housing. Opening in a pandemic and operating against many macro-economic factors has been difficult but remaining vision-focused, agile, and creative has allowed us to overcome challenges. We will always hold on to the lessons of keeping a strong north star, building a great team, and keeping long-term goals at the forefront of our strategies. We are in full pursuit of our mission to create spaces and provide resources that foster true well-being, and we hope communities everywhere will be positively impacted by our work.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We love being outdoors so Sweetwater State Creek Park is a favorite and a must for hiking, kayaking, the works! The Consulate is a recent restaurant favorite with something new to try every visit. And we definitely have to stop by Cascade and go skating!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We want to thank God – our faith is what keeps us anchored in life and business. Our family and friends also deserve recognition and credit. It has taken a village to grow atl kula and The Kula Care Foundation. Our loved ones and community have gotten us to where we are today and will help carry us forward.
