We had the good fortune of connecting with Constance s Prince and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Constance s, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
My favourite affirmation is ‘Just start’, it’s something my mom used to say to me whenever she noticed I would start to procrastinate. Now I say it to myself. Lets face it we are all guilty of procrastination from time to time, but once you just start the resistance falls away. Over the years I often had people say “how did you manage to do…?” or “how do you do it with four children?”
The answer is simple “Just start!” As simple as it is. Once you start, you’re likely to want to finish. This daily affirmation has gotten me to do many great things, especially in the world of art.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m an intuitive artist, I rarely rely on a reference unless it is to improve on my skills. This is why I don’t concider myself to be a niche artist. I art how I feel, in as many possible ways regardless of art genre or media. I believe this makes me different because I allow myself to be free without guilt. I create out of healing, love, and as grounding technique. After three car accidents in under nine months which left me with memory loss, post traumatic stress disorder and panic attacks. Creating has been my anchor also my happy place and i enjoy sharing my love with the rest of the world. I am simply being myself and not seeking to fit in. There is enough room for everyone to be themselves and share there love of the art world.
I think everything organically happened for me. I started painting to heal, the more people seen it the more people showed interest, over time purchased my works. I blinked and I’m a full time artist. When you love what you do, everything becomes possible. You forget that there is such a thing as impossible. It wasn’t always easy, but I am so content and at peace, I don’t seem to see obstacles but search for solutions instead.
The artist journey moves faster with the company of other creative’s. Network with others there is always benificial knowledge or exchanged experiences.
When others see my works I hope it brings them joy and when they learn of me. I hope my journey ignites inspiration in others to follow their dreams.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In truth I don’t like to overplan and rather intautive about hosting I like to go with how everyone feels at the time. I am so relaxed and chilled away from the studio. Usually if I had to host someone I call my sisters for ideas, I like things simple when away from the studio. They are more outgoing then myself. Mostly introverted but if the weathers great i can guarantee I would be convincing you to join me on long walks in nature. Enjoy horses, bird spotting, spa trips and afternoon tea. I work hard so I play hard, nothing wrong with spa trips and massages between these longs walks I’m not completely cruel. Also couple spontaneous adventures to whatever is locally happening at the time, a concert maybe who knows.
As for food options Thai, Turkish and of course home cooked meals by me. I love cooking for guests. I don’t drink alcohol and avoid carton juices as much as possible so likey I juiced my own.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Life is truly a journey and so is success. So many of people and experiences grant us the growth we need to succeed. I particularly am greatful to The Facebook group I joinded ‘Hidden Talents collective’
& The Arches Project.
Since being graced with there kindess and encouragement many doors were opened for me. A truly supportive and encouraging space.
