We had the good fortune of connecting with Colliesha Cook and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Colliesha, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
The most important lesson having a business has taught me and my particular field has taught me is, there is no easy way to run a business, there’s the fun times and all but running a business and it being your only source of employment is not easy at all! There’s always ups and downs with anything, but jumping into being your own boss and running your own business you think you got it good and easy when it’s harder than working for someone else, but I will never change it. Also you gotta build a culture, establish it with your company to become more successful and always be open to accepting your faults and wrongdoings with your business in order to learn from it to become better and to have better.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a lash technician originally from California but relocating to Atlanta. I have had 2 beauty shops, one strictly that was lashes and nails, and a full service beauty bar. In the midst of it, I was also one of the top black owned Lash Supply Stores that shipped worldwide and was opened for a year, carried nothing but the best quality lash products and more. Getting to where u am today was hard, I can admit there was plenty of times I had to stop and regroup myself to get back into my hustle mentality. Having your own business, being your own boss is not easy, I can say there’s good times but it’s not easy cause you’re dependent on yourself at all times and your employees are as well so you always have to carry everyone on your back regardless of what’s going on. I want the world to know that everyone has potential to do their own thing their own business you just got to hustle day in and day out, you got to sacrifice for what you want , you gotta always have that mindset to achieve more doesn’t matter if you reached your goal, create a higher one and keep on going til you at the top. Never give up

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my Bestfriend visited , well for starters she’s from Atlanta so she probably know more than me but I would definitely take her to Frost restaurant, the food there is amazing, the drinks and the music is a vibe as well! Another place I love is Suite Lounge, same goes for them the food, the drinks, the music it’s all a vibe. There’s also a rooftop restaurant I seen that I would love to check out.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Definitely would love to give a shout-out to my older sister, back in 2018 it was her that informed me of lash extensions and looking into it that got me into it. With out that I wouldn’t have had the jump to do it and become as successful as I have with doing lashes for almost 4 years and this being my full time employment and business for 3 years.
