We had the good fortune of connecting with Coach Michelamonè and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Coach Michelamonè, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m from Chicago Illinois. I’ve lived pretty much all over the city. The Northside, Eastside, Southside and Westside of the city. I’ve moved so much in my life that I went to seven different elementary schools. This didn’t allow me to make many friends growing up because I never stayed anywhere longer than a year.. The impact this had on my life was multifaceted. It made me not to trust and or easily create friendships but it did make me resilient and agile. This played into reasons I grew up with dysfunctional attachment issues and not understanding the value of my worth and what I brought to this world. However, it also created a perfectionist mindset because I felt the need, as the new girl most times, to be impressive all the time. – creating the need to people please.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
When I considered how I got where I am today, business wise, I would say, the hard way. I spent a lot of unnecessary money, made many bad decisions and connected to the wrong people that desired to drain my vision rather than drive it. But I never saw it as reasons to stop or quit. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve felt like quitting at least twice a week. LOL! But it wasn’t from the trials of entrepreneurship, it was from not knowing if my impact was as strong as I desired – which was much higher than imagined. In other words, my perfectionism is what made me feel like I wasn’t successful. So to answer, I got here by not succumbing to quitting.

I over came this challenge by learning more about my craft and myself by studying, reading and meditation. There is a saying, confidence comes from competence and competence is what builds confidence. Confidence is what keeps you in the game even when it appears you’re losing.

My story, although I believe is as unique as my name, is not. Everyone has a past. Most have made it out of that past on the other side and some are stuck in place. I say all that to say, that I truly treat people the way I wished someone would have treated me. This makes me go beyond the call of duty to seek nothing less than 180 degree transformation from my clients. I didn’t have anyone telling me how to get unstuck, how to have better relationships or that it is ok that I didn’t know how. Therefore, my drive to help others is fueled by my lack of support and help in my relationships.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend visited the area I would take her to north Atlanta to the botanical gardens to view the mastery of the landscape artists. We would drive over to Mableton and have brunch at Cafe Social House and have a veggie burger and listen to some music.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My children, now grown adults, have always been my fuel. They are the ones that made me push when I felt like giving up. To keep going when I felt done. And to want more when I saw nothing in front of me.

More often than not, life consistently spoke to me. Whether it was through my relationship with The Creator, books I read, people I encountered or even music or movies I enjoyed. I’ve always been the type to look for and ingest the lesson in everything, everyday. Many times the understanding of the lesson came later. But I always knew things, everything happens for a reason. It is just our jobs as Human beings to look for it, find it and obsorb it to be and operate better in this thing we call life.
