Meet Clydaijah Woods | Traveling Makeup Artist & Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Clydaijah Woods and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Clydaijah, what do you want people to remember about you?
I want my supporters, and people in general to be able to remember me as a “goal getter “, a female that wasn’t afraid of the “what -ifs” . I believe in living in my purpose and in order to live in your purpose you have to be content with who you are , where you are going , and how far you’ve come ! Never and i mean NEVER let other people fears dictate your next move ! Stop waiting for an opportunity and create one ! You can be anything you want to be if you believe in yourself.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I want to highlight I’ve been doing makeup for 11 years ! I started in the 6th grade up until now being 20 years of age !

When i was in elementary school i found out that i had an creative eye for art! I loved to draw and create anything out of nothing! I just always seen the beauty in things that are small or some people may dis value !

Ive won a few 1st place art competitions growing up , I’ve had my drawing placed in a calendar. I started watching YouTube videos in (2011) 5th grade and came across “Makeup Gurus” i found it so fascinating how you could paint your face ! I was all into into the special fx makeup , natural makeup , bold glams ,any type of looks you name it i tried to do it! I never really pay attention to alot of things like i should , but makeup had me in a awe , i learned how to do my own face and i started a YouTube channel in 2014 to share my talent with the world !

Well i didn’t know much about how to gain subscribers so i went to Facebook instead, by this time i was in the 9th grade (2014) – i use to go live on Facebook every other day 4-5x a week ! Just doing all type of creative looks & bold glam back then makeup wasn’t popping how it is today ! So i had a really big audience people were so amazed because i was only 13y/o beating my face to the Gawds!!! I taught myself so much about makeup since 2011 – it just started becoming apart me it was making all my bullies want to actually get to know me and learn more about “the chubby kid” fast foward to 2020 !

In 2020 , i think this year was the hardest for me because my clientele went down and i was confused why, someone way much older than me , who had just began their entrepreneur journey said something to me in that year that got in my head and hurted my feelings , made me feel worthless a little and i just stopped promoting makeup for a while i even wanted to give up ! I would express the feelings i had about giving up makeup with my supporters and they just kept me up in good spirits and reminded be of who i was , where i am going & how far I’ve came !

I became more motivated, i started listening more instead of talking – i learned that the more you learn the more you earn , i started to realize that everybody isn’t going to like what you do or how you do it , and that’s okay because “Real Recognize Real” most times others see your worth before you do , that is why i always tell my audience it is important to know “Who you are , Where you are going & how far you came ” ! When you know the answer to those three thing you become more content with self , the more content you are the more confident you are ! You will be unstoppable!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
It’s a girls trip & me and my girls like good vibes only ! Let’s go dirt bike mud riding in the day , later we may hit the spa to pamper ourselves, definitely gotta fit the gym in somewhere because we are gym heads ! A nice Japanese steakhouse for the eating arrangements & a lot hookah lounge to catch the vibes with some r&b vibes ! We love to dress up and take pictures just to reflect on the memories & live in the momment!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Throughout my whole journey God has definitely been with me – it took me a while to realize that it was because of him I’ve gotten so far off into my success! However now i am more than grateful and i shout him out as much as i can !

Growing up a lot of people around me thought i would choose the healthcare field like my mother , but God had something other in store for me .
My mom has been a big influence- i looked up to her being a single mom doing whatever she could to make sure that her only child never went without ! She was the first generation in our family to go to college , from working ,going to college graduated multiple times and still maintained to provide for me and her ! Im so honored to be able to reminisce on her grind, motive and ambition to finish school as many times as she did & still continues with that same motive to learn and earn till this day & she definitely made sure i knew who God was if i didn’t know anybody else!

In 2019 i gained a sister from another mister
Kristina Moore , she 11 years older than me , God knew exactly what he did when he let us cross path , she my sister ,mentor ,friend – she my person! She keeps me motivated, encourages me , reminds be on my rough days that i am on the right path – i have admired her professionalism as a hair stylist & how she carry’s herself she’s a very elegant , but real person ! I use to pray and ask God to send me a big sister figure all the time – somebody who would genuinely understand me and i always find myself just lingering the thought of how i am so blessed to have cross path with such amazing human being that i have so much in common with we hold each other accountable & one another uplifted!

Last but not least my amazing believers i call them the “BeautyBaes”!
The support team I’ve had over the past 11 years has really kept me going ! Sometimes i don’t always feel motivated or worthy – but i find myself re-reading the encouraging messages i get from them & how they are so inspired & proud of me just being me ! It definitely keeps me going ! I’m so appreciative of all the genuine love and support ! I was bullied so much growing up in grade school because i was so different and i was the “Chubby kid” now i get so much love – i only pay attention to the LOVE i receive! Way to bless to stress!
