We had the good fortune of connecting with Clifford Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Clifford, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
In business, you’re always afraid of risk. Every decision you make can make or break your career. The biggest risk in starting my business was finding the perfect truck. If I had selected the wrong truck, it would have affected my business making money. For example, if the vehicle had mechanical issues and didn’t meet code, I would have to pay more money to fix it and still pay a monthly truck note and monthly insurance. I hired a diesel mechanic to help me select a truck, which lowered my risk.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Slab Jones Trucking LLC is a southern trucking company located in Georgia. What sets us apart is that we value safety and communication. I’ve learned that a business is nothing without its clients, so the feedback they give you is to help you get better. Take the feedback and make changes to accommodate them to better your business and service.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
It depends on who’s coming into town. If my mom Anna visits, I will take her to The Egg Harbor Cafe for breakfast. I will then take her to Pink Caviar Lash & Brow Spa to let her get a facial, lashes, and brows microbladed because they have the best service. After her spa day, I will take her to Bar Taco for lunch. I will take her to the movies at CMX Cinemas, or I will take her to Top Golf for an activity. We would do Chops Lobster Bar for dinner because their food is always excellent.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A lot of my success comes from my business partner’s wisdom. My business partner can turn any idea into a successful business. I brought a business name to my partner Cassieandre, and she made it a legal business two weeks later. She created a business plan, set up authority, and a DOT in less than a month. Of course, she made me sign a partnership contract because she brought a lot to the table, and I didn’t mind signing it because she turned my vision into reality. With her help, we’re scheduled to do significant numbers in the next 12 months.
