We had the good fortune of connecting with CliffBeatz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi CliffBeatz, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was, I’m tired of working for people and punching a time clock. Working for companies that don’t appreciate your hard work and time invested is stressful. I’m like, if I can keep building other brands by working for them, I definitely can put the work in for my own brand and work for myself.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a beatmaker/producer, what sets me apart from others is the versatility in the sound. My production partner, Jeff and I don’t believe in just making one style of music because we’ve been influenced by so many genres of music. When I’m creating music and I sit back and close my eyes, I see images/art as the music is playing. I can’t really explain it.. Jeff is actually an artist as well. I’ve seen the man create a whole drawing while we were making music. I’m like DAMN! This dude is really talented!! One of the reasons we work so well together.
In regards to challenges, man…we’re still overcoming challenges everyday! One of the lessons we’ve learned is that being able to create music is not the end all, you have to know the music business. In music, you’ll hear people say it’s 90% business, and 10% music, and that’s still so crazy to me.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Mannnn a whole week??? That’s a long time 😂😂 Seeing how I’m still fairly new to the city, that trip is going to be cut short 😂 But a couple places to slide through would be Punchline Comedy Club. I’ve seen some pretty good comics there. Being from Chicago, another spot to hit would be Harold’s Chicken and Ice Bar, since Harold’s originated from Chicago. The one in Marietta or the one on Edgewood are both cool. You know we would HAVE to slide to a day party! Probably go to Suite Lounge or Cafe Circa! Definitely both some good vibes. Then you can’t come to Atlanta without hitting up a strip club! That would probably be Blue Flame. Their dancers are better quality and their wings be bussin!! 😂🤷🏽♂️
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family and friends definitely deserve credit and recognition in my story. They’ve been so supportive of everything I’m aiming to accomplish and all that it takes, especially my sister. She’s been my number one supporter my whole life and still is til this day! .
