Meet Clay Cofer | Doctor of Physical Therapy

We had the good fortune of connecting with Clay Cofer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Clay, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process was simple: I wanted to be able to provide the best care possible to my patients. I believe that by having one-on-one, 1 hour treatment sessions I am able to do so by taking the time to fully understand my patients’ goals so that I can tailor their treatment to align with where they want to be when they finish receiving treatment.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is centered around helping people reach their fitness and functional goals through one-on-one, personalized care. Helping others reach their goals in order to live their best lives brings me an immense amount of joy, and is what keeps me going day after day. From a business perspective, we are still very new and growing, so the sky is the limit as far as I am concerned. This journey has not been easy, and I never expected it to be! I learn something new every day, both clinically and as a business owner, which is constantly leaving me humbled. I want the world to know that their goals are always within reach with proper guidance, encouragement, and accountability. At Function Forward, we are committed to being this for each and every one of our patients/clients.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting, I would have to start by taking them to all of the local gems near us in Canton/Woodstock. We would get a drink at The Holler and then walk over to a First Friday concert and enjoy the local music. I wouldn’t feel right if I didn’t take them to at least one Braves Game, either! While at the stadium/the Battery, I would also have to introduce them to the best pizza in the area, Antico. Lastly, we would spend a couple of days a bit further north in Ellijay/Blue Ridge, where we could escape from the faster-pace of Atlanta/Metro Atlanta and enjoy nature and the amazing views.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The first person I would like to dedicate my shoutout to is my beautiful wife, Jordan, who has been so incredibly supportive of my journey. Secondly, my parents – I would not be where I am today without their support and guidance.
