We had the good fortune of connecting with Christopher and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christopher, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I (ButterKnife Haircuts) am from the Sag Harbor/East Hampton area of Long Island NY. I’ve always loved Hip Hop since I heard ‘Rapper’s Delight’ from The Sugarhill Gang being played at family functions. Between my parents and grandparents music that I was always around and Listening to, It gave me a love for most genre’s of music that lasts until this day.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I use the moniker of ButterKnife Haircuts, which is an old family joke and I made my logo resemble my Grandmother who passed away in ’06. Getting to the point I’m at today has not been easy. I had to always work extra hours to make overtime money so I could afford to work on my earlier albums. What I’ve learned is having patience dealing with different Artists and to never pay money in full upfront because some people will take advantage of that.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I don’t live in or near a proper city, but I’d show a visiter places on Long Island from Riverhead all the way East to Montauk.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
