We had the good fortune of connecting with CHRISTOPEHR BUTTS and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi CHRISTOPEHR, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I believe the most important factor behind the success of our brand is authenticity, I believe that the “Calvin Butts” brand offers something that is organic and relatable to all people. We have all experienced some type of loss and either overcome or are still overcoming it. Through tragedy there is triumph and that is what Calvin Butts Memorial Inc stands by.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an educator by profession with a background in teaching and coaching. I have over ten years experience with high school exceptional education, both inside and outside of the school community. I started out as a paraprofessional for three years and now I have a career as an English Language Teacher. The path was not easy, but education, mentoring and coaching children always seem to find me wherever I end up. If it had not been for the mentors, role models and coaches during my upbringing, I would not be the man I am today. Being a former athlete, coaching is something I have been passiontste about for some time. Coaching high school lacrosse and basketball. I have learned that it truly takes a village to help impact and allow the next generation to walk into their true purpose. I am most proud to be a pillar in the community for those high school seniors who may have been overlooked due to their circumstances. I want people to know that The Calvin Butts Memorial Scholarship is a testimony to anyone who has endured tragedy, giving them hope to share their story with the rest of the world because someone out there is looking exactly for what you have to offer!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If this were a weekend visit I would first pick my friend up from the airport. Next I would show them the new town home I closed on this past October. Then I would take them to the West End of Atlanta (Slutty Vegan, TRR, Wadada Wholistic Shop and Gochas Breakfast Bar) and show them around, finding several places with amazing food to eat and even better people to enjoy. At some point we would explore the gun range and possibly see a live band at a local cigar lounge. Lastly before their departure I would take them to home church Mount Paran Church of God to close out the weekend with a sermon from Pastor Cooper.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost I have to give all of the glory to God, my family and friends that have been supportive since day one. Next I have to celebrate the “people”. Anyone who has ever donated to our cause, purchased a garment, shared a post or just simply spoke about the Calvin Butts Memoiral Scholarship. Lastly I would like to shoutout these seniors, for what they have been able to achieve. Applying wisdom while overcoming adversity and hardships.
