Meet Christine Job | Impact-Led, IP-Savvy Business Strategist and Critically-Acclaimed Storyteller Focused on Black Migration, Womanhood, and Wellbeing

We had the good fortune of connecting with Christine Job and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christine, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I left behind a traditional legal path years ago, seeking something more aligned with my values. What I’ve built since—an award-winning podcast “Flourish in the Foreign” with over 150 episodes across 6 seasons, a business that supports Black women and women of color in turning their brilliance into sustainable, freedom-based income, and now a forthcoming book—was born from asking better questions about what I actually wanted my life to feel like.
Living abroad in Spain for the past 8 years gave me the space to hear myself think. I didn’t just want to be successful—I wanted to be well. I didn’t just want a business—I wanted a soft business: one that honored my values, respected my wellness, and supported a life well-lived. That’s where my Soft Life Soft Business framework came from. It’s how I support others and how I hold myself accountable to ease, joy, and sustainability in my work.
The balance I strive for now isn’t about equal hours—it’s about energetic alignment. It’s about asking: What do I need to be well today? And what does my work require of me, without requiring all of me? Balance, for me, is a practice of returning to intention—again and again—especially as a Black woman navigating systems that too often ask us to overproduce, overachieve, and overlook ourselves. Living abroad has helped me unlearn that. And now, I help other women do the same.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets my business apart is that it’s built on a rare blend of law, startups, storytelling, and lived global experience. I have a law degree, worked in the fast-paced world of tech startups, and became a successful, award-winning storyteller. I’ve taken all of those experiences—legal insight, entrepreneurial grit, creative expression—and woven them into the strategy work I do with my clients.
I work specifically with Black women and women of color who are senior-level professionals ready to make the leap into entrepreneurship through consulting. I help them create location-independent consulting practices rooted in their expertise, values, and vision for a life well lived. My work isn’t just about business models—it’s about building soft, sustainable, and profitable ventures that support freedom, wellness, and legacy.
What also sets me apart is that I’m a true creative—I don’t just help media-makers from the outside. I am one. I’ve built an award-winning podcast, Flourish in the Foreign, from the ground up, and that gives me real insight into the challenges and opportunities creatives face. That’s especially important as I work with more media professionals and creatives to help them protect their intellectual property and develop their projects into long-term, profitable ecosystems.
Getting here wasn’t easy. Like many, I started with a plan that didn’t pan out—I left law, changed directions, and built something new from scratch. Living abroad added new layers of complexity, but it also clarified what mattered most. I learned to build lean, work in alignment, and trust myself. And I learned that success isn’t about the hustle—it’s about clarity, courage, and consistency.
What I want the world to know is this: entrepreneurship can be liberating and easeful. You don’t have to suffer to succeed. You can build something brilliant from your own lived experience and expertise—and it can sustain you emotionally, creatively, and financially. That’s the work I do, and that’s the kind of life I live.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Although I haven’t lived in Atlanta in over eight years and haven’t been back since 2021, the city will always be home—and there’s so much I’d want to share if I were bringing friends back with me.
First stop would absolutely be Piedmont Park, especially if we could catch some live music or a festival. There’s something about being in that green space with the skyline in the distance that feels like the heartbeat of the city. From there, I’d take them to explore Downtown Decatur—walkable, chill, and full of great local spots to grab a drink or people-watch.
I’ve always had a deep love for Atlanta’s creative scene, so open mic nights and spoken word events would be essential—those nights gave me life when I lived in the city, and they’re part of what shaped my own storytelling practice. We’d head to the Westside, grab a kale wrap at Tassili’s Raw Reality, and catch the High Museum of Art on a Friday night, when the vibe is just right.
Of course, we’d have to hit up Edgewood Avenue at least once—though I’ve heard some of my favorite haunts like Noni’s and Mother have closed (RIP!). I’d probably let my friends who still live in Atlanta take the lead on the rest of the itinerary since they’re more plugged into what’s happening now.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Without question, my shoutout goes to my mom.
Her love, faith, and unwavering support have been the steady rhythm behind every bold, strange, or seemingly impractical decision I’ve made. Even when she didn’t fully understand why I would leave law, dive into the chaotic world of startups, start my own business development consultancy, walk the Camino de Santiago on a whim, produce a festival, or move to Spain with no return ticket—she still showed up for me.
She’s watched me reimagine my life multiple times: rebuilding my consultancy abroad, navigating adulting in a different language, and launching what would become an award-winning podcast. Through it all, she’s believed in me deeply and consistently. Her belief that I can do anything—even before I’ve fully believed it myself—has been vital to my success.
