We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Leon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christina, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
For most of my life I’ve been a performer. From singing in the choir to musical theater, my range was endless. Living in middle Georgia there are so many talented individuals, so I knew I had to do something to stand out. Being a creative was always something that came naturally but took time for me to learn it was something that I could do as a job, Thats how I found drag. The art of female illusion was something I had never explored but the challenge was something I was willing to take. With my best friend/drag sisters support I started that journey, and it has taken me to new heights.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I first started, it was rough because I didn’t have much support from any other than my sisters in drag and family. I was new to the community in Macon and had little guidance in the artform. Within my first year I met my Drag Mother Shavonna Brooks and I remember seeing her and knowing I wanted to be on that level of beauty and elegance. For years I traveled to other cities to perform due to there not being a space for drag performers. After a few years of this, my friends and I decided to start creating spaces and doing our shows wherever they’d have us. Since doing our own shows I’ve been allowed to grow as an entertainer and even learn about being event director.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Without a doubt, Friends on the Hill in Warner Robins. Besides being my home bar, Friends has amazing food, drinks, and awesome Bartenders. In Macon, JBA, Society Garden, Reboot Retrocade, Parish on Cherry, and Fatty’s Pizza, are all amazing bars and restaurants in town. All of these businesses are part of my growth and are owned by very amazing individuals.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother and grandmother are the strongest women in this world in my eyes. They’ve been my strength all of my life and have given me things to further my career more than I can count. Also, My Tribe family has also had my back and supported me in every way I can think of. You can’t ask for a better chosen family.
