Meet Christian Frazier | Mental Health

We had the good fortune of connecting with Christian Frazier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christian, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
Growing up in the projects of Newark, New Jersey, has given me an advantage over other people because I’ve grown to be book smart and street-savvy. Sometimes you have to use your intelligence on both ends when it comes down to job hunting or marketing campaigns – one end being what’s expected from a boardroom perspective with polished words while also knowing how to get things done through tough times using only basic essentials such as hustle mentality & resilience which are otherwise known as “street sense.” I refused to give up no matter how bad things got back then or today. When I was growing up, we had a toy called a ‘bop bag.’ No matter how many times you knocked a bop bag down, it always bounced back up. We need that type of resilience and realize that just because we are going through a bad time doesn’t mean that we are a bad person or that we have a bad life. We are entering the fall season when the trees are about to show us how lovely it is to let dead things go.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I became a certified life coach, health coach, and meditation instructor 4 years ago; last year, I decided to return and finish my psychology degree. It’s been an incredible journey of self-discovery. Talking about mental health online has generated dozens of people who have reached out to say they are now seeking therapy and avoided suicide attempts just because of normalizing the conversation. I knew it was time to amplify my knowledge and reach. I want to help others by creating content that helps people live healthier and more productive lives. I am fundraising through the grassroots method and selling t-shirts online to raise funds and awareness.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am a foodie who likes to take food photos and videos around town. My favorite spots to eat in the city are Ms. Icey’s in Decatur, 1942 Social in Stockbridge, Forks, Flavors in Kennesaw, The Boiler Seafood in Buckhead, Virgil’s in College Park, and Roc South Cuisine in Brookhaven.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to The Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network. They are working hard to provide mental health education and do their part in the fight against the Mental Health crisis. The Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network believes in the ability of everyone living with mental health concerns to enjoy lives of purpose, meaning, productivity, and wellness. Since the first gathering of 30 behavioral health peers in October 1990, this grassroots nonprofit organization has been led and run by mental health peers—people in mental health recovery. GMHCN has evolved into a statewide organization of over 100 employees engaged in advocacy, education, training, and peer support services for the people of Georgia. GMHCN is recognized as a national leader in the peer support movement.
