We had the good fortune of connecting with Chrissy Steed and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chrissy, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit. At the young age of 14, I opened an award winning community dance program for inner-city youth and it was this opportunity that sparked my journey into the world of entrepreneurship. I knew at an early age that I wanted to give back, inspire, and motivate others to be great within their own self. I went on to produce events, write and direct movies, opened a small events center, explored various creative outlets, but it was after obtaining my MBA, my thought process and entrepreneurial journey shifted just a bit. After researching and analyzing business/community relationships, I developed Small Business Character Certified (SBCC) where businesses nationwide take an assessment and agree to maintain certain ethical business practices.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As a serial entrepreneur, I currently run several businesses.

Small Business Character Certified (SBCC) increases business character and ethics through the assessment of businesses Legitimacy, Integrity, Trustworthiness, Safety, Responsibility, Quality, Transparency, Community Engagement, and Responsiveness. www.SBCertified.com

Lastly, ChrissyTube sparks my creative juices and will launch shortly on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xORF6CAijGk

Entrepreneurship is NOT a sprint. I have learned that it’s ok to fail, and it’s ok to fail a lot! But it is equally important to learn, grow and get back up!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Atlanta is such an amazingly cultural and historical place with lots to see and do. I would start the day by visiting some historical locations such as the Dr. Martin Luther King Monumental area, lunch at Old Lady Gang, and a night out at SkyLounge. Some fun areas for my friends with children would be the Georgia Aquarium and Coca Cola Factory.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’ve had the pleasure of meeting a plethora of great individuals and innovators throughout my entrepreneurial journey and have learned a bit from each of them! I would like to thank my family, my close friends, and especially my daughter Amiya who is my light, my motivation and the push behind my success! Without the aforementioned, I would not be where I am today!
