We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chris, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk is one of the MOST important factors that is going to separate you from settling and staying stagnant, to opening up doors and opportunities that you never thought you could open or achieve. As far as risk in my personal life, I took one of the biggest risks you can take by up and leaving my salary job in 2019, for a business that I believed in more than anything (Wouldn’t recommend this route by the way). “Belief” doesn’t pay the bills. So I would advise anyone who has a business that they believe in, to stay at their job with a stable income until you’re able to maintain your lifestyle with the profit you pay yourself from your business, Don’t let social media fool you into thinking you need to quit your job to be a “boss.” I had money saved up, so I thought that I would be okay until my business got to the point that I wanted, BUT as we all know, money doesn’t last forever… especially savings, and also plans don’t always go exactly how you want them to. So I ended up falling back to square one with zero dollars in my savings. Times were tough, but it definitely put me in an uncomfortable position, which I feel is important to elevate in whatever you do. Luckily, I was able to still pay my bills on time and be able to focus on my business because of other endeavors I was involved in. As far as risks in my career goes, I take risks on a daily basis. I’m a professional day trader, and I own an educational platform teaching others how to day trade as well.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I own an education platform where I teach my students how to properly day trade currencies, stocks, and crypto. I also give them the option to take the exact same trades that I take. It is called “The XX Academy.” Officially started a little over a year ago on January 1st of 2021. One thing that I am most proud of and excited about is the fact that I was able to teach people for absolutely FREE, for an entire year straight! Now how might someone be able to practically “give away” their services for a year straight? Well, simple.. My business was never started to capitalize off of the lack of knowledge from others. Fortunately, in the world of trading… I am able to make an amazing income based off of my own self-sufficiency. And that is exactly what I teach my students, how to be self-sufficient traders. Back in 2019, when I quit my job to dedicate my time to a “business”.. It was a multi-level marketing company. Now I don’t want to spend too much time on this, but I have to be completely transparent… and If you know anything about multi-level marketing, it is more so geared towards bringing people in and signing people up, with some sort of “product” to attract them. In this case, the “product” was trading. Long story short, I ended up parting ways with that company after about a year, in March of 2020, during the beginning of the pandemic. I made this decision because some people only saw power in signing people up, whereas I saw the power of actually learning the skill of trading. People can and will leave you, but knowledge is something that will stay with you forever. I took the world being closed at the time as an opportunity to really sharpen my skills as a trader. There was nothing but time to be used. So for the rest of that year of 2020, I studied and studied and studied.. My entire focus was on learning. Was it easy? No absolutely not. It took so much of my time and attention from family and other important things, I had to lose a lot of money at first, I was getting no sleep, late nights and early mornings, mental exhaustion.. etc. But was it worth it? More than anything. Once you get that “aha moment”, when everything finally starts to click, when it all makes sense… Everything you went through and endured was all worth it. And then January 1st of 2021 came, and I noticed the world was still somewhat in shambles.. So instead of “taking away” from people by charging them for everything I knew, I decided to actually give back. I told myself I would help anyone who needed it, for a year straight. And I stuck to my word and that is exactly what I did. There were a lot of lessons to be learned in that year of lending a helping hand.. One of the main lessons is that your energy can be extremely expensive if it’s not reciprocated. I will admit, there were times where I was exhausted at helping because I felt like I was being taken for granted at times. But one thing I learned as a child is that a man is only as good as his word, so I knew no matter what, I was going to do what I said I was going to do. So fast forward and here we are in January of 2022… Do I still teach for free? absolutely not. Hahaha! I’ve decide that now I only want to invest my energy into those who invest in themselves and reciprocate it back. Those who are willing to take that RISK. The education is still at an extremely low cost though. However, I do still have a free group chat where I occasionally send out helpful things as far as being successful for the trading week ahead. Something in me just always wants to help anyway. I just want the world to know that it is okay to take your own path, to always believe in whatever it is that you have going on, and to stay focused. You never know what could happen.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a true Taurus to the core, super super home bodied. I am rarely ever out these days, but one thing I know for SURE is.. we are going to eat some amazing food while my best friend is here. We would definitely go do all the “touristy” stuff first.. The Aquarium, World of Coke, Centennial Park, CCHR, Piedmont Park, etc. If you know me, you know I love basketball so we would definitely go check out a couple Atlanta Hawks games. We would go hiking for sure. Tallulah Gorge and Amicalola Falls are two of my favorite places to go hiking. The Beltline is always a nice vibe. whether you’re getting drinks or eating a Ponce City Market, or just enjoying the weather with a nice walk. But food wise… and speaking of the Beltline, Two Urban Licks is my spot! So we would definitely go there to eat. There’s a place called The Bando, the wings are fire there. Wingnuts by Georgia Tech is also my little quick wing spot when I don’t feel like driving too far. Mamas has the best shrimp tacos in the city. I hit El Sabor Dominicano when it need my rice n beans fix. Taki when I need my hibachi. It’s so many places to eat I can’t name them all! Atlanta overall is packed with a lot of gems and nice spots so we would definitely have a good time no matter what!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
When I look back at my entire journey, it’s just crazy to me how everything aligned so perfectly… From the timing of certain events to specific things taking place. Even when it didn’t make sense to me and I started having my own doubts. I had to realize that their is something way bigger than me working on this journey with me as well. So first and foremost… All credit goes to God. Without God, who knows where I might have ended up? I keep God first in whatever I do and I would say that has been one of the biggest, if not THE biggest factor in how everything has played out for me. Second, would be my amazing mother. She has been my biggest inspiration and support system in my life. Always believing in me, no matter what, even if I didn’t necessarily believe in my own self. Third, would be my girlfriend.. She has always supported me no matter how crazy my ideas may seem or sound. hahaha! I can’t stress this enough, when you’re on your journey to find your purpose… your girlfriend/boyfriend is going to play an important part in getting there. You want someone that is going to help you propel forward and not drag you backwards!
