We had the good fortune of connecting with Chloe Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chloe, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
One of my top favorite quotes is by the late Kobe Bryant, “ It’s the one thing you can control. You are responsible for how people remember you—or don’t. So don’t take it lightly “ Growing up (and even still sometimes now) I was the reserved quiet girl so I was either the one people remembered as that or not at all. I love this quote because when I first came across it it prompted me to step out of my comfort zone, be the me I am around my friends and closest family. I was so caught up in acceptance that nobody was even remembering me. So I stepped out , opened up a little bit more and because of that have made many connections in the acting world , that even lead to my first lead paid role and has helped me get my artist MrBaccAtIt on a few films on Tubi and Amazon Prime.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My actress career started with a audition and a prayer to God. Acting was something I was always interested in trying. I loved watching people transform into different characters and especially being at my Maw’s house watching That’s So Raven and her character’s personality, I was like I could do it ! But me actually putting my foot out didn’t start until college. I got acceptance letters from almost every college I applied to but financial aid wasn’t on the side of the oldest of five so I ended up going to Community College. My second year I went to audition for the play Almost Maine it was a cold read and I was in the room with people who’d been taking classes their whole lives and done many plays but in that moment I just set my mind to do my best and let God do the rest. I went home and at the end of the week got the email that said I was picked and everybody picked was going to play multiple roles. I was nervous but conquered my first play performed in the round. I did one more play before leaving my community college and immediately after I made Facebook my casting agent and got picked to play a role in a short film. It was thru this I realized my love for film. I stayed busy for a while but then things started to slow and it seemed every project in my area were casting the same people over and over and I was just about ready to step away from the scene for a undetermined time period. But then my friend sent me a audition for a Director by the name of Latroya Johnson, I sent in my audition and the next day was told that my audition was amazing and I was picked for a role in her series Shift , not even two weeks later I heard from another director from Atlanta , Ms. Brenda Marlow, that I had been chosen a PAID lead role ! I had worked some roles and background work but most were unpaid or very minimal so seeing someone saw my talent and deemed it worthy enough of pay really boosted my outlook. I also started learning the other aspects of film such as Production Assistant, set design, storyboard, Sound and more. I’ve been keeping my hand in something as much as possible and traveling between Atlanta and Fort Worth a lot ;being background talent in a lot of local Films , a lead in a couple YouTube series including Vid Chronicles , co lead in a few music videos , been a extra on Tyler Perry’s set for A Madea Homecoming which was extremely inspiring just to be that close to a man who built himself up and is literally directing and acting at the same time. And at the end of last year I got pushed into my purpose even more when I wrote, cast and directed my first short film for the 48hr Film Festival and it went amazing and I’m now working on two feature film scripts in which I will be directing and acting in, about to get my Tyler Perry on.

I know y’all are probably like wait she said actress and Artist Manager ?! Indeed , I currently manage one artist , MrBaccAtIt, he’s a RnB and Rap artist. Now this part of my journey was very challenging at the start being as I’m not really a club person and didn’t know many people in the music world. But after performing at any and every showcase we could find just to get his name more recognition the tables turned in our favor when he performed at a strip club in Dallas and caught the attention of two important people in the building one being a promoter who started paying him to come out and perform ans the other being radio host JKruz. After that I started seeing where I could tap his music into my world of acting and it worked his song is featured on the soundtrack of Heavy a movie currently out on Tubi and another movie which is unreleased at the moment but will be hitting some streaming services also. Another hurdle I had to figure was networking because after so long you run into a lot of the same people so I took my shot at virtual networking and connected with a dope promoter by the name of ShePromo among others who have helped shape me more as a manager and gave me advice which is making me more privy to the business side of things . My closing remark is whatever you do make sure there are contracts in place they can argue your words they can’t argue the paper.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely couldn’t go any further before first shouting out Ms. Brenda Darrett Marlow of Rhinestone Filmworks. She is the one who cast me for my first paid lead role in a film right when I was in a space of feeling like I was working my butt off and not seeing the results I wanted. When I felt like I was getting constantly looked over and feeling defeated Ms. Brenda was the blessing that helped me push forward.
