We had the good fortune of connecting with Chimere Haskins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chimere, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I would have to say the biggest factor that has played a role in my success as been me being consistent. No matter how many times I have run into Roblox frustrations life changes I made the decision to continue to keep going. There were many times I wanted to quit entirely in those instances I decided to take a break to work on my mindset and shifted to why I decided to take this journey. Once I was able to gain a bit more perspective and rest I continued on my journey.

One of the mini concepts I’ve adapted over the years has been to create small attainable goals to reach the large bowl that you have sit out for yourself. It’s like eating a cheeseburger. If you try to bite the entire thing it’s almost impossible however if you take your time, take small bites then you’re able to consume the entire thing and enjoy in the process. Remember never bite off more than you can chew.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career started over 20 years ago as a licensed cosmetologist. Over the years I’ve learned how to leverage social media to help grow my salon business and later became a social media Conti creator and influencer. This has led me to work with some amazing brands such as L’Oreal, Lancome, and many more. This has allowed me to learn how to not only market myself as a small business owner of a brick and mortar hair salon but also as a personal brand. By leveraging my artistic abilities with my love of mentorship and teaching I have been able to amass a large following on social media.

One of the mini lessons I’ve learned along the way has been to always be authentically myself. Social media has a negative concentration of presenting yourself as picture-perfect 100% of the time. I believe I have helped aid in debunking the stigma around the “perfect influencer”.

My Legacy project #GirlYes aims to mentor other women who choose to enter the creative space of social media constant creation that authenticity is how you grow a strong and profitable brand.

This is what inspired me to write the self titled book #GirlYes as a guy to other women in business and entrepreneurship to create a game plan for achieving your goals. The three pillars that we use for #GirlYes are to be bold ambitious and beautiful.

As I continued on my journey it has led me to pageantry. I wanted to find a positive platform to inspire other young women who look like me too use their voices as a megaphone. Pageantry has open so many doors for me as well as for my mentor ship program. I am honored to be a representative of the All-Star United States pageant system. As Mrs. New Jersey I advocate for community programs in initiatives that help with women in business, education funding, and low income families.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I currently reside in New Jersey and we have some wonderful locations for visitors looking to have a great time in the garden state. One of the many places I would want someone to visit would be the Jersey shore. We are known for many things here in New Jersey and our salt water taffy is one of those amazing things. We also have a fabulous boardwalk filled with Italian sausages funnel cake fried Oreos and so much more. And if you are in the mood to do a little gambling Atlantic City would be a hotspot for those looking to be on a lucky street.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank my friends and family for their support as I’ve taken this journey into mentorship, pageantry, and as a published author. I would like to extend a special thank my husband Kevin for all of the love and support throughout this journey and for pushing me to always show up as my best self. To the two young ladies who are my hearts in human form, my wonderful daughters Ariel and Leah. It is because of you I can boldly proclaim #GirlYes.
