Meet Chester Wilson: Consultant and Trainer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chester Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chester, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Being the little boy from the “hood”, I never imagined I would or could be a business owner. Being a first generation college student was a major milestone, but I did not know entrepreneurship was attainable. However, my thought process shifted. I figured if I was good enough to be hired and promoted by a large firm, then I had something they needed. That thought grew and I cast my net. Each time I cast it, the return was larger and larger. It was then I knew I could do this.

What should our readers know about your business?
The CW Consulting Firm provides business consultation, training, and mediation services to community providers and professionals seeking to enhance their personal and professional development. The services provided through our business consultation include business start-up, expansion, sustainability, and right-sizing. We also offer Masterclass for CEOs, which provides entrepreneurs with a 12-week intensified business development course. Through our training services we provide continuing education and certifications in Private Investigation, Family, County, and Circuit Civil Mediation, Private Security, CPR, First Aid and AED, Addictions, Mental Health, and Risk Management. Through our mediation services and approved by the Florida Supreme Court, we offer family, county, and circuit civil mediation. What sets me apart from others, is we are on our way to becoming a one stop shop training and consulting center for business professionals and those that need continuing education. The business today was birthed with one training certification offered, now we have over a dozen. Each year the goal is to add new training services to our offerings. What I found is that it is not hard to start a business or add a service. It is just an application and meeting the criteria. The hardest part is completing the application. However, the benefit is worth it. The only challenges is overcoming my own reservation and fears. Sometimes you don’t know that you can until you do it. The lessons I have learned are invaluable. I have recognized my own strengths and weaknesses. I have learned when to ask for help. I have learned when to hire consultants myself. The biggest learning experience is what I share with my clients, which is, “just because you came up with the idea or owns the business, it does not mean you have to be the one to run it or implement it”.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Daytona Beach is known for being the “World’s most famous beach”. People from around the wold save all year long to spend one week here. In addition to the beach, we have motor sports event, such as speed week, bike week, jeep beach week, spring break, among other annual events. Day 1: A day at the beach with my guest, eating foods from some of the favorite local restaurants. Day 2: A day of shopping: Mall, Outlet, local shops, and downtown Day 3: A community event: A reading, grand opening, showing, or gathering Day 4: Visit and tour the historical HBCU- The Great Bethune-Cookman University Day 5: A day of driving around the city, impromptu eating, stoping to visit friends, places, and maybe the game stop… 🙂

My wife is my rock and foundation. Without her physical and spiritual covering I would not be where I am today. In my opinion, she deserves all of the credit.
