We had the good fortune of connecting with Cherry Griffin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cherry, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
This was something that came about when I realized that I was doing the work for others, but not really reaping any of the benefits. I was still struggling with everyday financial woes, while my employer was enjoying their life. The company was enjoying the fruits of my labor more than I was.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What you are most proud of or excited about?

Ans: I am excited about having the opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life, my community, and my family.

How did you get to where you are today professionally?

Ans: It was a process and a journey. I had to revisit my past, in order for me to get a clear vision of where I was going.

Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges?

No, it wasn’t easy. No one wants to look in the mirror and face their flaws. But I knew in order for me to succeed in my goals, I had to do some soul searching. Eliminate bad habits, and toxic friends and forgive me for anything that held my growth hostage.

What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way?

Ans: You will fail many times until you reach success. The key is not to let your failures define you, but to learn from them. Learn what not to do and or repeat.

What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?

Ans: What I want people to know about me, my brand, and my story, is that every day I am learning, and perfecting my craft. I don’t have all the answers, and I am not afraid to admit it. I believe that success isn’t measured by the amount of money you have, what things you own materially, but by the lives, you empower, encourage, educate, and inspire to identify and walk into their purpose.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The first night is a chill night. We would sit around and catch up on our lives. The next day we’d eat breakfast and head out to Marietta Square and walk around, have lunch at the Battery and come home and cook dinner and relax.

The next day we’d take a drive to visit the Legacy Museum in Montgomery, Ala. We would spend the full day there and drive back in the morning.

On the third day, nothing is planned just relax around the house.

On the fourth day, catch a movie or just hang out at Atlantic Station.

On the fifth day, I’d leave that up to my friend.

On the sixth day, we’d visit Helen, Georgia. Take in the scenery and sites there.

On the seventh day, brunch before they head home.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to give recognition to the people that believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself. They are my children, T, Andrews, J. Heredia, and A. Cuervo. My Destiny Talk Live Media Group (DTL Media) Team, W. Gary and A. Moore. My professors and fellow classmates at Oglethorpe University. There are way too many to name, but they know who they are; and two mentors who didn’t make it to see where I am now Barbara Crome and Will Adams.
