We had the good fortune of connecting with Chelsey Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chelsey, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind my businesses was always “I’m tired of working for someone else”. Lol. I was so bored going to a job everyday. I even tried working from home but there was just no progression or freedom to spend time with my kids or show my real creativity.
What should our readers know about your business?
Let’s start with my first business. Chelsey’s Edible Creationz LLC. I started this business in 2019. Initially I started off by making soy candles and for Valentine’s Day I decided to make some gift baskets. Well, I ended up making a few chocolate covered strawberries that you can add to your basket. After Valentine’s Day more people inquired about the strawberries more than the candles! I started making more and more until my customers started asking for other items and then boom we had Chelsey’s Edible Creationz. I take pride in it because I truly did not know how to do all of the other items but as time went on I looked at tutorials and practiced until I got comfortable enough to sell them to people. It was not an easy journey because people have to eat these items and presentation definitely sells . I’m low-key a perfectionist so it took some time to get it right! Once the pandemic hit my business started to slow down so I was always looking for other avenues to make money instead of settling to work my regular job. In December of 2021 I decided to quit my job and step out on faith which led to me starting my new business Hypnotic Hair & Beauty LLC in April! I have always been the type to change my hair in different styles and I’ve always loved makeup , perfume and anything that contributes to looking and feeling good. By starting this business it’s giving me the opportunity to help others feel the same way! Through owning both of these businesses I’ve learned that I have to have patience! There won’t always be good days, there will be slow days as well but the key is to keep going! I also wouldn’t be where I am without my 2 sons who are 5 and 1. They keep me on my toes and motivate me to keep going!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For anyone visiting the area I would definitely recommend some down south seafood! I’m a seafood lover so if I’m not cooking, King Crab ATL would be a great choice! They have good food and drinks. Also, a nice steakhouse or lounge would work as well. There are so many in the area you can’t really go wrong!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to God for giving me the talent and creativity to do what I do. A lot of people have talent but sometimes they don’t act on it. I want to be the Jack of all trades! I want to use all my God given talents to the best of my ability so I can never say I didn’t try.
