We had the good fortune of connecting with Chelsea Smith-Ruffin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chelsea, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
As a teenager growing up, I always knew I was going to work in the fashion, art, music, and entertainment industry. At 13 years old I created campaigns for my favorite talent. I was a street team manager who came up with creative ways to promote the talent. Because of my job, I had to take photos to add to the promotion, which landed me in the photography industry. I never thought of becoming a photographer, it just happened. Ever since I started photography, I been blessed with the opportunity to do amazing things.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My photography is versatile. One day I can be shooting a rap concert and the next day a political event. Im glad I am able to switch up and be able to do what I want and when I want. I never imagined myself doing what I do. Most females don’t make it in this Industry, so I always have to stay on top.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I just love being at any type of event networking with people. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, I would like to thank God. He has blessed me everyday and still is. I have so many people who show love and support. I want to thank my family and my team. Special shoutout to KayLeno (Press Pause Productions) . When I first started to do photography he was the first person who showed me the game. Because of him, I met alot amazing people who I call my team.
