We had the good fortune of connecting with Chelsea Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chelsea, what’s your definition for success?
I define success as waking up every day with the opportunity to use your skills, gifts, and talents in a meaningful way. I’ve always had a passion for food and many of my family members as well as friends seek me out for restaurant recommendations. I enjoy visiting new and different restaurants but most of all I find joy in sharing these restaurants with others. I have been blessed to leverage my passion for food through Instagram posts.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The past eight years I have served as an educator at a school with a very diverse population. Our students represent many countries and I have been exposed to a variety of International cuisines. This has deepened my interest in exploring the local food scene in Atlanta. During my undergraduate experience I had the opportunity to study abroad and experience unique foods globally.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The start of an exciting weekend would begin with brunch at Breakfast at Barneys. You can’t go wrong with its beautiful décor, awesome service, and great food. You may even spot a local celebrity sitting at the bar. I would get the delicious Savannah fish and grits.
Next, we would grab a scooter and hop on the Eastside trail of the Atlanta Beltline to explore the beautiful views of the city. We may even stop to get a King of Pop to cool off from the ride. Our next stop would be Ponce City Market to explore one of my favorite stores, The Village Market ATL. After picking up a few black owned products we would proceed to Bar Vegan ATL for cheesesteak egg rolls and signature cocktails.
We would depart Ponce City Market and head to West Midtown to Puttshack for an exciting game of mini golf. After playing a round of mini golf, we would take a break at the bar for a round of their unique cocktails.
Our last stop for the evening would be dinner at Rock Steady. This restaurant has an alluring ambience to match the exceptional food and first-class service. I always like to try the chef special entrée and dessert. The live music during dinner would enhance our experience.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have been blessed to have a strong support system. My village consists of several dynamic women who have had a positive influence on my life. My village has provided me with courage, love, support, and Godly wisdom. I stand on the shoulders of my mother, aunts, godmothers, and grandmothers.
