Meet Chef Jadie Byrd

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chef Jadie Byrd and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chef Jadie, what do you want people to remember about you?
As an Indigenous woman, legacy is very important to me. The importance grows the older I become. I want my legacy to be that of wealth that can be passed on to my family and offspring. I want to be able to give my children and their children a family-owned business. I want people to remember me and my brand for the way we showed up for people and our community. I want people to remember the incredible artistic projects we took on and how that helped heal others. I want our uniqueness and authenticity to shine bright.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Eat Di Herb is unique because it’s a vegan cannabis company. 80% of our clients are not vegan but keep coming back for more. Our brand has expanded people’s consciousness about herbalism through creativity, uniqueness and unmatched innovation. I am most proud that we are able to teach people ways to incorporate cannabis into their daily lifestyle through plant-based living. This may sound simple, but I am also very proud that our food is delicious and has converted many people over to healthier lifestyles. Again, our food and desserts are absolutely delicious.
2024 has brought many challenges and many opportunities. This year we were able to work with Pinky Cole, owner of the Slutty Vegan company as a restaurant feature with our infamous Jamaican Patties. We also were able to record a full season tv show on a network called Black On Demand. The name of our tv show is called Eat Di Herb with Chef Jadie Byrd. Our cookbook sales have been stable and have given us plenty of opportunities to do food demos for different communities. In June of 2024 we also launched our ministry called The Burning Bush Church that is in coalition with Eat Di Herb.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would definitely hit up a new restaurant to show love and give feedback. Eating is one of my favorite pastimes. Maybe after we eat, we would burn some calories downtown at Piedmont Park and ride our longboards.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
In June of 2024 I launched my church ministry called The Burning Bush Church. Many people who attend are long time clients of Eat Di Herb and family that I have made along the way. The Burning Bush is not your typical church. Because of this unique tribe and their support, I have been able to fulfill a God given life assignment. I am super grateful for the way members show up for themselves and for their community. We heal and work through real life things. I am infinitely grateful for my ministry.
