We had the good fortune of connecting with Chata and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chata, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Honestly, for me, I feel like I risked a lot. I went from doing hair, to selling clothes, to doing make-up and more, all in the pursuit of creatively building confidence and hoping to inspire other women. I risked my lively-hood and the pursuit of money over and over to accomplish this goal. I think of risk now as a tool of growth even though it may be scary at times. It feels like I rolled the dice a lot, so risk played a big role in my life.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Being Chata sets me apart. My love of my Hispanic/African American heritage mixed with my keen beauty sense and my admiration of so many differing art forms from animation, movies, books and more definitely sets me apart. Just being me and showing success at representing myself and being influential to others makes me immensely proud. I am where I am by looking at myself, and what I represent, then finding where all of that fits in the future. It was never a easy task, I had to overcome anxiety and self-sabotage to learn to accept myself and find my shine. Then came the task of learning how to market and apply business sensibility to my art. I’ve learned to trust my instincts, but also to temper my expectations while aiming passed my targets. The world needs to know I am still on my way up in this world, so my story still has several pages for you all to read.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For my friends and myself, I know we are going to want to see some great culture, taste some amazing food and mix that in with a lot of fun. So we would definitely hit up Krog Street Tunnel for the artistic scenery and run thru all the restaurants and bars on Krog Street. Next, we would spend a day exploring Little Five Points because there is so much variety and flavor with a natural indie feel. Atlantic Station could fill another day with all the chill spots, great stores and signature ATL activity. Then for something new we should definitely walk around The Battery Atlanta. The Battery is 100% one of the cities most energetic spots with so much to do and connected right there to Truist Park, home of the Braves. Of course we have to spend some time touching on Atlanta history and visit places like the Civil Rights Museum, Centennial Park and the Coca Cola Factory. We can eat our hearts out in places like Babbette’s Cafe, have fun playing games at Battle and Brew, then spend a relaxing night at The W Hotel. Now, after all that, if that isn’t enough, I’ve still got Atlanta Botanical Gardens, the CNN Center and the Georgia Aquarium as legit attractions to make the trip worth the travel.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shoutout all my people who are on my team. I wish I could narrow it down to a single person but honestly its the people, other artist, influencers, brands and my following, because without them I wouldn’t be able to do what I do. To all my clients that ever booked me and gave me the confidence to succeed.
To my family that has acknowledged my talent, skill and creativity, and encouraged my mission to help the world with my own unique vision and style. Thank you all!
