Meet Chastity Morgan | Makeup Artist & C.E.O

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chastity Morgan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chastity, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my business was creating a brand that will cater to women of color. Back in 2015, I noticed that most makeup brands did not cater to us especially drug store brands. With that being said , I actually went to my mom about it and she gave me the name for my brand. Mocha is actually my nickname so she used that and came up with Mocha Cosmetics Cafè.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My name is Chastity Morgan , C.E.O of Mocha Cosmetics Cafè. This is a brand where all women of color should be embraced because we come in all different shades. When you walk into a nice coffee shop or cafe, you’re looking for a “pick me up., and once you take a sip of coffee, you’re ready to start the day. My brand doesn’t just want girls to wake up and feel bad about themselves. You should always feel confident and embrace your natural beauty. Our brand shows you how to enhance your B(r)eauty, by giving you the proper products to create the perfect look!
I came up with the idea to have a makeup line back in 2015 and my mother actually came up with my brand name. My nickname is Mocha so we knew that a coffee theme would be perfect and fun. The vision that I saw about my brand has been slowly coming to fruition and I’m excited to see how far and fast it grows.
Some challenges that I have faced is understanding how important it is to market and being consistent. It’s very important to first come up with a business plan and research the market. I also highly recommend getting an LLC , trademark, and a credit card. These things would help your business so much. Make sure to build up your personal credit but also build up your business credit. You can do so many things with a business credit.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my friend was visiting me, the very first place I would think of is Wonderland. Wonderland has fun and tasty drinks and food and the ambiance is very chic. This gives a nice chill fun Friday night. Next, we would go to Peace and Saint hookah lounge where the vibes are great! The DJ gets the crowd lit and the variety of hookah flavors can just make you indecisive. Saturday would give cute and adventurous in the day time but sexy at night. Hitting different food places at Morgan Food Hall and going golfing at Drive Shack. At night , we’re at club HIVE in a section of course, turning up! It’s now about eleven o’ clock Sunday morning and it’s time to get ready for brunch! We have to head to The View. A black owned brunch spot that has great food, mimosas, hookah, and of course great music. I hope their ready to sing your heart out with a piece of chicken in your hand!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I definitely want to give a shout out to my mom she is my biggest support system. I definitely have to shout out my friends and all of my clients. Without them, Mocha Cosmetics Cafè would not be here!
