Meet Chason Watkins

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chason Watkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chason, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand and my success in all would be my faith in God. God has continuously blessed me and put me in positions to win so I credit my success to him. My friends and family have motivated me to continue to strive for the best!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I own a clothing brand! Something that I feel sets me apart from others is my ability to network and be social, that has played a huge part in my quick route to success, especially being at an HBCU. I’d say again me being social is what got me to where I am today, the journey to where I am wasn’t easy and i’m certain as I continue to grow and see more success that it won’t get any easier, but being socially active will always be something to lean on. A huge lesson I learned while being on this journey is patience. There have been times where I try and speed things up and it hasn’t gone as planned, which is why being patient will always be key for me. One thing I want the world to know about me and my story is that it hasn’t always been easy, as much as it may seem easy and fun , it’s not always going to go smooth, and that’s fine. Eventually the hard times will pay off.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If some of my hometown friends were to come and visit me in Greensboro I would make sure they would come to GHOE. Along the week we would eat at JP’s, Dames, Luxe, and we would have some cookout runs. I would make sure that we go to some parties over the span of the week, we would have to go to the pep rally and our homecoming concert! I would make sure that we went to a kickback or house party during the week as well!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my parents, they have poured a lot into me and have motivated me to be the best I can be! I would also like to shoutout my AMS friend group, they have had my back and been a great support system for me while running my brand and being at NCAT.
