Meet Charli Allen | Baker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Charli Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Charli, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started my business as a hobby to keep me busy while quarantining in the pandemic. My daughter and I would try new recipes that we saw on Facebook or Tasty. It was really therapeutic for me to bake with my daughter and also get to eat delicious sweets. Eventually I got better and better and started doing birthday cakes for my friends. My friends are actually the ones that talked me into turning my hobby into a business. I haven’t looked back since!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I work in the claims department at GEICO. I work with shops in Alabama to review estimates. One thing that I have learned from my job is organization. I deal with about 200 claims a month and I have 7 different shops that I work with. I definitely have to be focused and organized throughout the day because it’s pretty easy to get confused.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would definitely have to start our day off at Atlanta Breakfast Club. I absolutely love their peach cobbler French toast. My idea of a good time is trying out different restaurants so that is mostly what I would do. Ponce City Market and Krog Street market are definitely on my list of places that I love to go.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this shout out to my best friend Saida. She really believed in me and pushed me to start my business. If it wasn’t for her I would still be doing this as a hobby.
