We had the good fortune of connecting with Charles McCreary and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Charles, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m from Detroit, MI. The best place on Earth! The media makes it seem like the worst, most dangerous city in the world. But behind that cloak is a city filled with the most creative, hustling, loving people you could meet. My city impacted me by teaching me how to “go and get it” regardless of your situation. It showed me how to move with integrity and that standing on your morals is a foundational part of life.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
One late night when my wife asked me what I wanted to do after I was let go from my career job. I answered “I’m a Dank Dad”! And the brand was born!
Dank Dad is all about organically spreading peace, love, and our favorite flower while highlighting gems of the community. (Artists, musicians, ect.,) and that’s what sets us apart, our organic love!
I’d say the the road for Dank Dad wasn’t easy. There are still those that look down on cannabis. So being a black man, with kids, and cannabis can be mistaken as “controversial”. Fighting to change the stigma on cannabis can be an uphill battle, but it’s one I’m willing to fight in order to change the narrative.
Since starting dank dad and perusing it as my passion I’ve learned a lot. I’ve learned that consistency is key. Everybody won’t understand the vision or the process until it’s trophy time. So keep grinding!
If there’s one thing I want people to know about the brand it’s this….
We rock with you, if you rock with you!
Good vibes & great people only!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As soon as we leave the airport First stop is Dreams Canna is Southfield. We would stock up on all of our favorite (flower) then probably grab a bite to eat.
Detroit is the home of hole in the wall food spots!
From “The Food Exchange” for a “Big Baby” to Green Dot Stables to tailgate for a Tigers game. We have all the eats for every taste bud!
Id take them to the Livernois strip to experience some black business and top of off with a stop at Kuzzos (best chicken and waffles around)
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My story would not be being told if it wasn’t for my wife. She made the lightbulb go off and has supported me in every step of this journey called life. There would be no DANK DAD without her!
