We had the good fortune of connecting with Charisse Palmer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Charisse, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started my own travel business because I saw travel as an opportunity to practice self-care, connect with other women, and experience people, places, and cultures outside of everyday life. As a young mom who lived away from my family, I always found a way to travel back home on a budget while I was raising my children. As I matured into motherhood, I realized how important it is to expose our children to travel and get away together for fun and relaxation. I knew from personal experience how often we put time and energy into our loved ones and forget self-care. When we travel with the intention of collaborating, being vulnerable, and loving on each other, we teach our children to nurture themselves and others while exploring all that this world has to offer.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others is that I provide a service that is personal to each client. My company offers budget-friendly getaways that can be paid for in installments over a course of time. My proudest moments are when I see the joy on client’s faces. When we host discussions during retreats, and I see how moved people are by the stories that are shared, it affirms all the reasons why I do what I do. My top three lessons learned are to have sound terms and conditions, a solid travel insurance policy, and take nothing for granted. What I want people to know about my brand is that I am here for our collective. The goal is to heal ourselves and others as we explore the entire world around us.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh my I love Atlanta because there is so much to do. As I am an avid traveler local stay-cations are always my “go to”. We would definitely stay downtown in a hotel that overlooks the entire city. I would take them to the belt-line because there is a lot to see while we walk and talk. We would have to visit Two Urban Licks which is one of my all time favorite places and those salmon chips! At some point we would make our way over to Lenox Mall because it is a popular place that most visitors ask about and then we would go over to Sage Restaurant where they have the beautiful blue counter tops. Being that we have an entire week we would have to make our way over to Old Lady Gang. Definitely brunch at Ms. Icey’s Kitchen & Bar. So now we have to squeeze in Botanical Gardens & Aquarium. Hey is this a fair question? There’s so much to do in Atlanta.Oh my! I love Atlanta because there is so much to do. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My three entreprenural daughters. They have been my consistent encouragement to moving this business along. As I stated earlier they are the very reason why I started to understand the power and need of travel. Leggra Colon who is an agency owner and introduced me to the concept of owning my own agency. Last but not least my dear friend Joy Stewart who was consistently in my ear telling me “go for it – you got what it takes”.
